Can anyone confirm (with knowledge, rather than just guess from the pics), that this photo from twitter is not how this artist's impression has actually turned out, please?

Clearly the above studio isn't final, but if that were to be one of the studios World News use it would surely be a let down compared to the artists impressions we've seen?

I think its pretty obvious that the two are completely different. The Twitter picture is a set which is built into office space, either on the same level as studio E or on the 1st floor. World News was apparently to get Studio C for its base, which is in the Basement and does not have a newsroom view.

Apparently the studios are all 'up for grabs' so All output could use it. NC, World News, Nationals, London, Arabic, Persian, everything. So the studio we've all been calling the NC Studio (Studio E) will not be where the NC comes from all day long.

That would be a nice concept, to have WN and NC sharing and changing their sets so both groups of viewers get the best of what Broadcasting House has to offer.

I might be wrong, but I think it was suggested a while back that the Twitter picture was a shot of the new set for BBC London News. As far as I'm aware, their current set is only temporary and that they are waiting to go into a permanent studio/office space. The desk is low level too - so very similar to the set up that they currently have.

And I'm hoping it's for London, too. The only thing that concerned me was the largely similar layout as the new artist's impression - and we don't know when those concepts were created - and it's since been suggested that BBC London may actually just renovate their existing facilities rather than move.

So if the Twitter image is for BBC London... could this be Studio D?

Could it be Studio E. That back panel of a newsroom shot looks as though it could be the real newsroom set which is only in Studio E.

I was thinking that. The panels also say 'BBC NEWS' rather than World News.

Yes It could definitely be Studio E, the thing that threw me was the ceiling in Studio E is quite low.

It appears to be low: but we've never really been able to see it against anything we can scale, have we?

The other thing we can't gauge from Artists Impressions is how much of those sets will actually be physical, rather than keyed in. Though clearly keying in to real sets has its limitations, such as fixed camera shots and mistakes.

I too thought that looked like Studio D, but the ceiling does look a lot higher in the impression, and there's nothing from that picture to suggest the view behind them is the live newsroom. Also, I was assuming the GMT shots were likely Studio B, as the layout looked rather large. It would also make more sense for programmes like GMT and World News Today to use the Newsnight studio, than generic bulletins.

Ah, I'd forgotten about that picture, which I think makes the studio looks considerably bigger than I originally thought.

Is it now possible to reduce the height taken up by a lighting grid if only LED or halogen lamps are used?

I believe that Gavin has plenty of knowledge the subject of commercial lighting, so may be able to respond on that point.
