Sorry I thought you meant the News Channel studio. I shall go back under my rock.

All these pics coming make me excited about the move. Finally things seems to be happening. Look at that bunch of chairs in lower right corner. Laughing Shocked This newsroom will be spectacular.

Just looking again at the Flickr i found this on, this photo was taken on Thursday 12th January. It also looks like they are fitting the lighting in the Large News Studio.

I do like that, it's interesting that despite any BBC branding in that image at all, it still screams BBC News to me...

I'm not sure I like the desk layout... still, a beautiful space though. Plus it'll obviously look great on screen.

News Channel's Studio E looks quite big in that shot. Very Happy

Imagine the Press Preview being aired live from the Newsroom! Wowza's - probably wouldn't happen though.

Whilst the studio does look big, its probably no bigger than the one they're currently in. One things for sure, i doubt we'll be seeing any Barco screens in there, unless they plan to block all the windows like they have done in the NWT studio.

Worzel's impersonation of Inspector Gadget aside... While I can see benefits of having a presentation point in the middle of the busy newsroom for THE HUB. I cant see Chris Eakin awkwardly shuffling papers in the middle of an empty newsroom.

I'd imagine they'll probably go for very big plasmas like in NWT. I hope so, anything but Barcos.

The studio's on the left hand side of the picture, in between the two colums.

Why is Breakfast not staying in London and coming from here? Silly to go Salford. Looking good in Broadcasting House though.

Why wouldn't they use the newsroom view? They covered up the windows in Salford because they were ordinary office windows, which meant controlling the lighting in the studio would have been difficult and costly for two programmes that wouldn't have benefited from them. Remember, that space was built as an office first, then converted for use as a studio (thus windows that had to be blacked out and a relatively low ceiling).

Comparatively, a view into a newsroom doesn't seem to cause as many problems (though admittedly the lighting in N6 is much better than N8 - to be expected when you compare a fully functioning studio to an adapted office space). This space, if it is to be used as a studio, was built with that in mind. It would have been more convenient, if you weren't going for a newsroom view, to not use glass (or whatever it is) walls.

My money is they will use a set more like the current N8 - a real newsroom background with a wall or two of BARCOS. One could argue that from a presentation perspective, N8 can be used far more interestingly than N6 can without changing the set. The way they use the set for Newsday, The Hub, Sports World Have Your Say, Impact and the desk-bound World News bulletins surely couldn't be done as effectively in the current N6 set?

My money's on BBC World News. As said, WN is expected to be the first in, so having the desks in already might make sense, and the set seems to be taking a similar shape to the current N8 one. I can't see why London would need two desks, unless the studio will serve as a backup/alternative studio when not in use?

Why "anything but Barcos"?

Personally I'd like to see a nice gently curving wall made from Christie microtiles (mini projection cubes like the Barco's) to fit in with the circles we're seeing all over the BBC News "look".

I'm not a fan of the big plasmas, as they need the huge bezels covering up with fake pillars. The Salford studio to me looks very dated already (especially on the Late Kick Off yellow version) with it's pillars, neon and shinyness.
