Nationals and Newsnight can share a studio but not for the 10 due to rehearsals and only a 5 minute turn-around.
It's not beyond the logic of schedulers to move Newsnight to a permanent slot at 10:45, is it, if they are sharing with national news bulletins?
However, by the time this all happens in 2012, everyone will have DTT (under the current plan) so will there be a need for more than an 8pm bulletin and a direction to BBC NC?

The only bulletin on BBC One I can see them getting rid of or at least shortening is the 1. Perhaps 1-1:15 news bulletin then 1:15 - 1:30 Regional News. I can't see why the BBC would get rid of the 6 and 10 on BBC One. It would undoubtedly lose viewers.
Moving Newsnight to 10:45 could possibly happen I suppose. We'll just have to wait and see.
I thought the One was the highest rated daytime programme (in the not too distant past anyway)?
I don't really see the Ten sharing with Newsnight, without some serious changes in the way both programmes are produced. On top of the time to change the studio around, you also have complications with the need for two programmes to rehearse in the space, and then chaos if for some reason the Ten has to go out a few minutes late (e.g. overrunning sport). With four full news studios available (NC, World, Newsnight, London), I'm sure they'll be able to cope!
More importantly, does anybody know how many galleries will be installed? I'd hope that the News Channel has it's own separate gallery which isn't taken over when the nationals are using it's studio so that they can do their own thing regardless.
I can't help but feel that plans to make North West Tonight and Breakfast share not only a studio but also Technical Teams and video servers might point the way to what might happen to BBC London...
It did used to happen in the 70's and 80's with Nationwide/Sixty Minutes/Breakfast Time and the whatever the South East got at the time. Nationwide and Sixty Minutes continued with South East news during their regional opt outs and until the early 90s the South East news came from Lime Grove alongside Breakfast TIme
The plan for BBC London was always to move to their current facilities temporarily and then move in with the rest of news when they arrived at BH. The production system they use is also temporary, it isn't the same as BBC News will use at BH or the rest of the BBC regions use (Quantel). AIUI, their radio studios are barely adequate for purpose either so is probably temporary

Aren't some of the 'galleries' (unless there's a technical term for radio) for BBC London 94.9 FM basically in a corridor?
From what I've seen, the production areas (the area where the producers and phone answerers sit) is open but against some windows at one side of the newroom, but I think it's a dead end rather than a through corridor.
Apparently the studios were far from adequate, especially the soundproofing.

True, but at that time the SE only got a token regional news service, didn't they frequently get Tom and Jerry when the rest of the country got a regional opt at the weekend? The SE news in Sixty Minutes was produced by the Nationwide team AIUI rather than being a separate operation.
Interesting to hear that they're planning to have Breakfast and NWT share a studio - will the Breakfast opt outs come from that studio or will they have a second smaller studio for that?

That is all true, but it still doesn't mean that it's impossible to do today in Salford during Breakfast. Certainly it would be a lot easier technically
