Security has actually been increased at other BBC sites too. Stricter requirement to visibly wear ID badges, checking of badges and increased procedures for audiences.

Even down to checking if people still need their pass to gain access to certain areas.

In other news, I believe they've dropped the red lanyards.

Does that mean they've scrapped the lesson you need to do to get in BH?

I'd read that Managers were now responsible for ensuring staff receive the correct training.

No - it just means they trust that your ID card has the right access entitlements. (and you have to do the online course before you have the access rights added to your card)

Seems like a better way to do it. Mind you I suspect that even if I did the online course I could probably get in the door but then find I don't have the access rights for anywhere else past reception!

Could someone explain what the red lanyards signified?

Red Lanyards meant that you'd done the induction course that allowed you inside NBH. Before that, they were blue, and first aiders have green ones.

So are fire wardens the poor person who lost the luck of the draw?

Why is there an induction course needed to get into NBH? Is there anything similar for other buildings like Media Centre UK or Pacific Quay?

Was at NBH today and the Media Cafe and Bar still has public access however you have to go through a metal detector and rubdown search.

The BBC Shop is still open but very much reduced in size compared to the old ones at The Mailbox, North Road Brighton and BBC World.

The One Show were camera rehearsing outside a musical act but even somebody from the One Show team hadn't a clue who it was!

I remember the BBC Shop at TVC not being exactly large either, which was purely there to pick up custom from those who did the tours.

I remember that too. They did have loads of BBC lanyards for sale - plus staff still have them.

The Trainline ticket machine was broken though.
