If there's any hope to be dished out, please direct it towards all the private home dwellers and small business owners in Northern England, it's unimaginable horror for them. ITV and Ericsson are big enough to deal with and survive any damage they might suffer

A bit harsh, really? Of course I have hope and sympathy for people who have been displaced by the floods, but surely discussing possible flooding of ITV's studios is on topic for this thread? It's a discussion thread about TV studios after all. It feel like you're implying I don't care about the ordinary people who are affected because I've expressed concern over this.

Indeed, it's perfectly logical that people would want to discuss the effects on broadcasters. This is TV Forum after all. It doesn't mean we don't care about the effects on the general public - that can be discussed in The Newsroom.

Yes, I was a bit harsh, my apologies to you James, there was no 'uncaring' implication intended.

I believe there is some flooding in the archive.

According to this ITV Yorks staffer (?) The archive is the only building on the site affected (Less than ideal perhaps to have an archive below street level ?)

I believe some of the pictures in this story are from near BBC & ITV in Salford. As flood waters went away, sand and silt left behind on paths. Said to be near Salford's Lowry hotel.

On a related note, BBC Radio York was taken off air on many of its transmitters due to the floods taking out BT infrastructure. One of Radio Humberside's presenters is currently holding the fort from Hull, and doing an excellent job.

Indeed. James Hoggarth is the presenter. I understand he was scheduled to present Midnight to 6am from York to cover the floods and indeed was on his way when he had to about turn back to Hull when the BT lines went down. So a mammoth 8 hour shift on air for him now as went on air approx 10pm.

Coincidentally he covered a few weeks ago on BBC Radio Lincs from Hull when their power went down after a fire there. Albeit it was a simulcast with Humberside. That was until Lincs presenters arrived in Hull to take their own programme from the studio 2.

None of the pictures are near Media City. They are of Manchester City Centre (though technically the pictures are mainly of Salford). BBC and ITV are a couple of miles up the river.

Agreed - The Lowry Hotel, which is in Salford, is on the left hand side of the photos.

Only "studios" does this go near are the old Granada studios on Quay Street which is less than 5 minutes walk away from where those photo's were taken from, mainly because I work in Spinningfields, which is literally behind the person taking the photographs but in Manchester!
