It does look like a perfect place for a set, in the heart of the newsroom with a wide view of it.

So if we presume this is one of the sets, where are the other 2 supposed to be? They are not gonna be newsroom sets, right?

Anyway this is all supposition - and I agree, it's hard to gauge actual height and dimensions from a photo!!

*IF* someone can be bothered to work this out - those steel deck plates on the floor are 60cm square. If you mark the width of one where it meets the centre of the glass wall, and copy and paste that line rotated 90 degrees until you reach the ceiling, you could establish an approximation of the height.

I'll go ahead and rule myself out of that task.

3.8m to top of white, 2.7m to bottom of white. That's what I get anyway.

There are eight rows of lights in the ground reflection, there are six visible in the ceiling, judging by the black band I'd say the grid is recessed at least a foot into the ceiling above the glass and the 'house lights' a little bit more. IMO the perspective is misleading, I'd say it'll look quite big on screen. Have to say I'm a bit dissapointed with the pillars, the brushed steelish look in the renders was better.

The other studios are in the basement.

Just noticed it has a steel bar around the glass wall, like a certain other studio with a glass wall has,

Just like hundreds of glass and non glass walls around the country - it'll be there to stop things getting bashed into the glass.

That was before the BBC fell out with the architects who would not change his designs to cut costs. BBC management kept changing its mind as to what they wanted so expenditure spiraled out of control. That is why the place is late in being commissioned.

FYI a set is the stuff that goes in a studio, be it a desk and plasmas or mocked up living room. What you mean is that looks like an ideal studio, along with 2 others...

And here is today's news … BBC's state-of-the-art building

BBC executives hope £1bn enterprise in central London will be symbol of corporation's openness and accountability

After a decade in the planning and six years of building work, the BBC's Broadcasting House in central London has reopened as the "building that never sleeps", centred on a converged, state-of-the art newsroom.

An official handover party was fronted by news anchor Huw Edwards on Tuesday evening, attended by BBC Trust chairman Sir Michael Lyons and other top executives who hope the £1bn enterprise will be a symbol of the corporation's openness and accountability.
