You can't really see from the picture - but they're pink in real life.

So when will CCA leave TVC? Is that literally the last team working on the site?

Edit: And will there be any kit auctions for us geeks to buy a nice conversation starter. I want a clock or something

Last I heard, the staff have started to decamp already, but some are still there - and will be there till around Christmas. Kit will still be live until well into next year though, so any auctions will probably be some way off.

Do you know of any auctions of technical kit? I saw the kitchen apparatus and random memorabilia one, but what about the lamps, pantos, peds etc?

A fair amount of technical kit has been retained by the BBC Studios and Post Production I believe and re-employed at Elstree (both BBC Elstree and Elstree Studios). There will be some surplus kit I'm sure but not 12 studios worth...

Interesting.

Atos who administer the Governments disgraceful medical services programme assessing sick and disabled people - with many cases leading to disastrous consequences are responsible. Could they pull the plug if say, Panorama decided to out some of the events? Or is Auntie too heavily involved with Atos now to make such a programme? Just asking.

Of course this is also another weird example of the BBC 'saving money' by having even more disparate sites rather than everything in one place.

The move is a consequence of the TVC closure and not a cost saving in itself. The operation had to move somewhere and in terms of location.... well let's just say that they have kept it in-house and not bought anywhere new!

Having things in different locations has good and bad sides, but one advantage is that there is geographic resiliance, unlike having everything in one place.

As for editorial conflict of interest with Atos, it's worth remembering that most of those working on the BBC bit are ex-BBC staff, they're not a bunch of Atos bods shoved into a BBC building.

Not that pulling the plug would happen anyway, (though it's not unknown, that sort of thing that happened with the newspaper unions in the 70s)

It's like how Serco release workers of theirs that have been sent to gaol out of their vans, onto a Northern Rail train commandeered to go directly to their house - to pick up the wife and kids - whilst giving their kids authorised absences for the rest of the year on Serco registers.

That's a great picture of the TVC mural. I don't think there are many other pics of it online.

Sort of connected to this thread by means of 7 jobs LEAVING Salford - Shifting back to the empty space in The Shoebox.

I love this bit at the bottom:

Notes for Editors
The new measures will create 81.5 jobs in Birmingham, including 69 jobs moving from London and seven jobs moving from Salford.

What exactly is 0.5 of a job?
