What is the plan for the current One Show studio - conversion back to office space?
NG
It was never actually fitted out as office space. It was an empty shell with just a very basic floor (and no heating or air con) before The One Show moved in. In fact it was better equipped than the rest of the Energy Centre - which didn't even have a floor...
I have heard rumblings of the BBC Academy (who lost their White City training studio) and/or BBC R&D (who lost TC0) moving in. However the broadcast facilities will presumably be stripped out - as they are currently provided by SISLive (formerly BBC Outside Broadcast Resources)

I thought the point of moving The One Show was to free up the building for sale? Has that changed or did I imagine it?
Either way, what is the point of moving The One Show? Just better facilities at NBH?

Presumably one of the reasons is because they'll eventually have to move out of the current premises anyway and chances are if they left it a few years something new might have come along and moved into that BH studio making it all the more difficult to find space. No better time than the present as they say.

The long term plan is for everything to move out of the Broadcast and Energy Centres, along with the rest of the White City buildings... although it's a good few years away - not before 2017 as I understand it.

. . . winning bidders get to pick the items up from TVC itself. What a treat!
Unfortunately, that's what's putting me off bidding for anything, especially larger items. I'm 200+ miles away,
and I don't have a van! I doubt they'd let me on the train with the old Blue Peter set, or the Newsnight sofa!
I think you also have to have the requisite risk assessment to be able to take any items won.

What sort of risk assessment, and why would such a thing be necessary?

Well if you're going to be buying 4 huge storage cupboards, a few sofas, and a couple of tables, they don't really want your Great Uncle Stan coming to pick them up on his own in his Nissan Sunny.
Obviously you're not going to need a risk assessment to pick up a poster.

You may be asked to supply a risk assessment and/or method statement if you are going to need to collect anything that couldn't safely be moved and taken out of the building by hand on your own.
