That's a cracking video. Apart from the Status Quo.
From that period in the early 90s where the BBC seemed to treat them much like they did U2 a few years ago - lots and lots of airtime as elder statesmen of rock. Changed quite abruptly after Radio 1 stopped playing them...
The final live transmission from BBC Studios at TVC before they close is this Sunday - Urbi et Orbi, the Pope's Easter message, will be produced by TC3's gallery.

Hopefully they will have updated that page's picture by then
Might be a safety thing too, It's one less hop if it doesn't have to go to Salford and back.
I don't know if it still is but when I was at the BBC I'm sure it was a 'Grade 1' broadcast - up there with the Queen's Christmas Message and Party Political Broadcasts. Didn't its broadcast go wrong a few years ago (possibly around the time that the Broadcast Centre took over playout)?
Yep - it's the same day as the Boat Race as well. Not sure if Salford galleries have any involvement in that. In London it often went through TC5 - so there may not have been a non-Dock 10 gallery in Sport suitable? (Particularly if it needs to go through a gallery with a degree of redundancy)
Given that there is a lack of studio space now that TC has closed, I wonder whether there is any scope for places like Studio A at BBC Newcastle to be used for network productions again? It's a similar size to TC2/5/7 and there is a Studio B which was designed for Look North to use while A was in use for network productions.
Obviously it's not HD capable, but I would conjecture that A could be used on a drive in basis with an HD scanner while its gallery worked with B's floor space (on the assumption that Gallery B hasn't been upgraded over the years) and A's cameras.

But if you're doing that, you could surely use any four walls on a drive in basis. I don't think Newcastle's studio is that big so you're massively limited with what you can do in there. And also, it's in Newcastle, of course.
