Jools said in the introduction that it was the last time they would be broadcasting from there because it was closing down (despite the fact that it's only closing for redevelopment and the studios will be reopening after this). Does this mean that the show won't be returning to TVC after the redevelopment?

It probably will.

The idea that TV Centre is closing down and will be redeveloped as flats or something is quite firmly engrained. The fact that it will stay as TV studios seems to have passed most people by. See also 'the BBC has moved to Manchester' which is heard lots these days and of course is wrong too.

Incidently despite what Jools said at the beginning of the programme, it hasn't always come from studio 1, when I worked there it was usually in 3

Although the new owners do not want any annoying late night recording disturbancies to the new residents. All recordings to be finished by 8PM.

Do we have a source for that?

Newsround currently decamping to the Breakfast/NWT studio... problems in their normal MediaCityUK studio.

Ugh it always looks so much BETTER when it comes from the NWT studio. God knows what they were thinking when they designed their current set. Sad

Where have you heard this? Sounds fishy to me, it's not as if there aren't already people living very near to the studios. The main part of the complex will remain commercial use anyway

Totally wrong. None of the BBC has moved to Manchester. It's moved to Salford! Wink

I think a bloody big shopping centre would be a bigger problem for residents than three hundred or so people leaving a recording.

There is no way they would stop the studios at 8. Think Children in Need, Strictly... you would rule out live evening TV programmes.

Yep - and in the early days of Later... in HD there was an HD OB truck parked outside TC3 (Alfacam initially, before the BBC had HD OB trucks of their own)

It is an awful set, looks really cheap and half-baked with that old sofa that doesn't fit shoved in the corner - and those rubbish video cubes. If only they could bring it from the NWT studio every day!

Presumably however, the discerning TV presentation enthusiast who enjoys clean lines, subtle lighting, unique angles and quality furniture is not Newsround's target audience?

They can't do that because some of the CBBC bulletins are broadcast at the same time as Breakfast or North West Tonight.
