No, not really. They're moving their "tape library" for want of a better word.

Not exactly.

The PP bit has a division that is being moved to Ruislip (I think it specialises in remastering of older material etc.)

The S bit is temporarily re-locating to Elstree Film Studios (near BBC S&PP's Elstree studio operation) whilst TVC is developed. The BBC have already announced that BBC Worldwide and BBC S&PP will be moving in to TVC once the site redevelopment has completed.

Everyone expects TC1 to be part of the eventual BBC S&PP TVC operation - though which of the other studios will also be operating has yet to be announced AIUI. (Rumblings were TC1,2&3 or TC1,3,4,6) The former makes sense as it is a continuous portion of the doughnut ending at South Hall (I think). The latter makes sense as TC2,5 and 7 are pretty small and may not be that useful on the commercial market. TC 3,4,6 and 8 are very popular with panel shows, game shows, chat shows etc. However TC8 is unlikely to stay operating (even though it is popular with sit coms because of the audience seating arrangements) - because it is in Spur not the doughnut.

AIUI almost everyone will be vacating TVC at some point of course - as it is likely to be a building site. (I guess all the CCA/CAR/Sat Ops connectivity stuff will have to move at some point as well)

Are there any plans for what is going to happen to TVC then? Is the Spur / Stage 6 to be demolished? What about the East Tower and car park?

Given that the BBC retained the freehold I presume this includes *all* the land and not just the original listed bit of TVC

From what I've heard, it's likely to become a building site before we've even moved out.

I think Stage 6 is due to become home to BBC Worldwide when they moved down the road (presumably as it's the nicest/newest bit of office space and must need far less work). Sure I read the east tower is going to be knocked down but happy to be corrected...

I presume this year's Children In Need will be the last (for now) from TVC, and next year's Comic Relief might just slip in before the temporary closure?

I hope the sweeping newsroom camera in BH is used quite a bit. I assume it'll be used after the titles of the 1, 6, and 10 and on the News Channel, but hopefully the BBC might be a bit more experimental.

Just a thought, but I think it would be great if instead of a BBC One ident before the news, we had that sweeping shot of the newsroom whilst the announcer says 'The BBC News at Six, with George Alagiah'. It'd at least be something a little different!

Comic Relief will definitely be in TVC.

As for East Tower I've got no doubt it'll be demolished. Hideous building that has presumably been empty for a year now since children's moved to Salford (though some offices below the tower do seem to still be in use). Hauntingly the automatic doors still work and some of the decorative lights are still on in the foyer so if you poke your head in you get a slightly freaky view of children's faces plastered all over the walls. Yesterday BBC Radio 4 carried out a full, unbroadcast, pilot of the Six o Clock News in New Broadcasting House all to real time. Corrie Corfield was the news reader. All news and news programmes are due to be moved by mid December.

5 Live's remaining programmes in London are moving in a few weeks. Simon Mayo and Mark Kermode's 5 Live show on Friday is, according to Simon, moving to the brand spanking new NBH in a few weeks' time from the 'dilapidated' Television Centre studio.

I assumed it was already from somewhere near BH as he only has an hour between his 5Live and Radio 2 programmes on Fridays.

I would assume that they are moving in at the same time as the rest of news. Radio 4's PM will be in from start of December.
