Looks like Focus on Africa on the screen. The small studio is a "web studio" used for the likes of the Russian TV bulletin.

It just looks a bit different. It's obviously the angle they shoot from on the Russian bulletin. Looks great with the other part - very N8 News 24!

Of course, on of the things we haven't taken account of is the additional TV crew(s) that will be doing World Service stuff. It is perfectly plausable that the World Service team could produce focus on Africa from this studio area, to give a bit of variety.

It says "Mizecho" on the screen in that WS studio. Swahili for Sport, it seems.

That studio is also used by BBC WS for "visualisation" of Russian and Swahili programming (at the moment anyway) on different tv stations.

According to pics on flickr:
Quote:
The first live TV broadcast from New Broadcasting House was a BBC Russian IPTV bulletin (for IPTV partner channel Dozhd) presented from the World Service MPA (Multi-purpose Production Area) studio.

The MPA is a studio open to the whole news room, designed with no walls to be as versatile as possible.

A low ceiling height works well here then

Low ceilings in TV never works well. It makes proper lighting virtually impossible.

This may be a daft question, but if studio A (the VR one) is up and running, why are BBC News bringing TC5 out of mothballs and reequipping the galleries for Jeremy Vine's bits of the US Election coverage?

They've done the Vine bits from ITN before so being at BH doesn't sound like it should be a problem.

In TC2 for the "locals" vr, they used a jib. I assume that a similar set up is being used in TC5. Studio A in W1 does not have this option. This might explain your question.

Is it a case that Studio A can't have a jib or just not available in the transition phase.

Sorry, going to be an amateur question. Define Jib for those who aren't in the TV profession.

In that picture with the monitor, it seems we get a look at how the DOG will look. More of a evolution that revolution. I feel the gfx are going to be disappointing.

If you consider a lack of radical and unnecessary change disappointing. Personally, I'm glad that they've recognised the value in maintaining and building upon their distinctive visual brand.

The reason you are disappointed is because like others, your expectations are way too high... what exactly could they have done with their OSGs that would be radical?

The information coming out of the BBC for over a year now is that they would be building on the strength of the current brand with the move to Broadcasting House. We already know they will be sticking with the same Network titles with a few minor tweaks. So surely a set of OSGs that are very similar to the current set was to be expected.
