Hi,

I'm new to this but does anyone have any news as to when BBC World News are moving into NBH?

Also, any news about programmes like Strictly Come Dancing, where they will be coming from when TVC gets sold off and vacated completely?

World News: mid November-ish, if I recall correctly.

They said it's happening after the US elections on the 6th so as BBC WORLD says, I'd guess it's very soon afterwards, possibly Monday 12th.

Any news about Newsday and the overnight bulletins?

This may be a daft question, but if studio A (the VR one) is up and running, why are BBC News bringing TC5 out of mothballs and reequipping the galleries for Jeremy Vine's bits of the US Election coverage?

They've done the Vine bits from ITN before so being at BH doesn't sound like it should be a problem.

Seems strange to me, there must be a reason though.

i-lied - not sure about Newsday and all the overnight stuff, it might be that they don't move until later or at the same time? Anyone else got an educated guess?

How easy would it be to transfer a virtual set? Maybe they'd already designed the virtual set, but (for whatever reason) it can't be used in Studio A.

Perhaps the people involved aren't experienced enough with Studio A, or a keyed-out touchscreen isn't available at Broadcasting House.

I think I read somewhere here that the election coverage is coming from TC7, one last hurrah I suppose. So, surely it would make sense to keep it all on the same campus?

In addition to that, the majority of journalists who report on world related news are probably still in TC.

The main BH move is supposed to take place after the election.

That doesn't explain though why an old studio, already mothballed and stripped of parts in its control room, needs a resurrection.

(EDIT) Love this update from mediaboy:

Looks like a BBC World News pilot on the screen here in Studio B. Don't know what the specific programme is though on the monitor .

I've seen this studio before, and I think we don't think we ever came to a conclusion as to its use. It looks like a studio for BBC World Service to me.

1. Part of the "biggest newsroom in the world"
2. Newsroom-Transformer. Sometimes BBC Russian Service uses this newsroom for their news bulletins on Dozhd' tv channel.

A low ceiling height works well here then

Looks like Focus on Africa on the screen. The small studio is a "web studio" used for the likes of the Russian TV bulletin.

It just looks a bit different. It's obviously the angle they shoot from on the Russian bulletin. Looks great with the other part - very N8 News 24!
