Also is there any presentation points in the actual newsroom like Sky News has/had? (Elbow, stairs, fin monitor, balcony, shoebox, etc)

This taken from from a past post by Generic:

Additionally there will be an area known as studio J which will be directly viewable from the media café and will be a presenter in front of a 105" plasma. This is still some way off completion though. The "trundlecam" for the opening of the News Channel will be directly next to this location and may have some usage for weather as well.

[...]

The ground floor has a newsroom camera position. The second floor has a Correspondents camera for lives and a mini studio further along for business.

So from this, we can see that there is
• a studio point overhanging the newsroom floor (see http://www.flickr.com/photos/bowbrick/8010636698/sizes/o/in/photostream/ )
• possibly a weather studio position link-up
• the newsroom live-point (see my post with pics on page 136 of this thread)
• the 2nd floor newsroom part (http://t.co/7jSCLMcC)

I personally would love to see the whole newsroom used on the channel in the old-fashioned Sky News way. Perhaps a programme like Sky News Today with Martin Stanford and Julie Etchingham where they had their little newsroom point pre-2005 relaunch.

I would love that.

Is there a 'soft studio' at BH, like BBC Breakfast's Christmas set? Or would that be the NC set?

BBC Breakfast will almost definitely come from Salford this Christmas. It doesn't come from the NC studio at the weekends anymore. However, I'm sure there's a sofa and rug somewhere that would fit into Studio B. In case you've not noticed, because Natasha hasn't been on the Rota for ITV News for a week, or whatever, Studio B is very versatile.

And your bringing rota chat into this and aiming it at me because...? I think I've posted in rota threads about..15 times..talking about a brand new presenter or dislike for someone, not documenting the daily life of presenters!! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Wouldn't have thought there would've been any point opening Salford TV studio on Xmas Day, as the only people that will be in surely would be the Radio people?

There wouldn't be any local TV news on Xmas Day.

Isn't the News Channel on Xmas Day live half hour then pre-recorded back half hour, with occasional hour long broadcast? (Dunno about Sport?)

You wouldn't get the likes of Bill Turnbull surely(assuming he's still based down South domestically & in a Travelodge for a few days per week!), unlike previous years, you'd get the locally based staff instead.

Dunno how 5Live works, but if Radio Manchester is like WM, all their live broadcasting will be early morning through till mid afternoon, swopping to pre-recorded stuff for the rest of the day!

Bill lives in Cheshire now. He doesn't live in London definitely.

I was wondering myself about the arrangements this year for BBC Breakfast. Obviously, you've got the choice of Louise or Bill (both live in Cheshire now) - don't know at all about Charlie, who has kept very hush-hush about his travel arrangements to Salford.

Couldn't really bet either way so I couldn't say whether it will come from London or Salford.

If it did come from Salford, there's no chance of a Susanna Christmas Day treat like last year!

What sort of 'treat' did Ms Reid give us last year?

Appearing on Christmas Day.

Breakfast on Christmas Day (Boxing Day & New Year's Day) is very much basically the News Channel, with a single presenter, back half hour fillers etc. Although it would make sense to do it in London, I expect politically they will do it in Salford.

I presume they'll still be based in Salford and use the local based relief presenters (such as Roger Johnson).

Ah, yes, but until this year, proper TC7 Breakfast was only a 'workday' production - weekends and bank holidays were from N6, and a News Channel production. Since the move to Salford, it's been a Salford production every day.

Just a note to say Radio 1 begins the move tomorrow. Dev will be the first show from NBH at 4am. Not sure if any other programmes are moving yet, the Breakfast show is staying put for now, so it's going to be a gradual thing.
