The BBC is British for Britain, paid for by Britain. Commercial activities are a stain on the editorial independence of the News division that has made it the best, most trusted news broadcaster on the planet.

If Johnny Foreigner wants to look over our shoulder and read the newspaper that we paid for, then let it, but they should never, ever, let non-licence fee payers get the upper hand.

No they're dropping that 10p into the hands of big companies, who are dropping 5p into our hand in return for filling our newspaper full of adverts.

But, as I said, risk the editorial independence of the BBC.

That's a pretty weak assertion. I 'risk' death by hopping on a bus every morning.

Question is, how transparent will that screen go, and how washed out will it look when in use?

What? Which screen? There are 4 in that photo, none of which are designed to go transparent?

The "screen" with the grey is smart-glass which is supposedly supposed to switch between transparent and video.

That studio is really nice. Great to see they went with the London Skyline for the main backdrop.
