I think if anyone will do a big wow intro into the building it'll eb World of News 24 as they've 1. got the time and 2. are actually based in the main newsroom rather than just in a new studio.

The News channel have the newsroom set, not World.

I appreciate that but they're more likely to toddle around the place / utilise other sets than Newsnight is.

We know World News are going to be using both Studios B and C for regular bulletins, and I wouldn't be surprised if they want to use Studio E as well, to show it off to the world. I can also see them taking full advantage of the Newsroom space, perhaps presenting The Hub from a presentation point within the newsroom.

Nyooz Chanul will be totally boring and just have two shrubs sitting behind a desk, lets face it, they don't have the resources to do anything fancy. The differences between the two channels are going to become far more obvious as World's budget starts to rapidly increase.

I would have World News Today coming from Studio E as well, and Duh Nyooz Chanul (which should definitely take second fiddle to an International news channel viewed by hundreds of millions of people) should be kicked out of Studio E from 5-10:30pm.

Urm, let me think... No.

UK viewers pay for the BBC out of their TV licence, so it's only right domestic news has the flagship studio. Anyway, World News will be studio hopping most of the time, so they will make the best use out of all the facilities.

It's World's turn to have a studio that doesn't look out onto a live newsroom now. :p

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that BBC Lisence Fee payers couldn't give a flying flock what studio their news is presented from. World News gets more viewers and for the vast majority of viewers around the World, is the face of the BBC. The BBC arent likely to give up the opportunity to show of their shiny new newsroom studio to these viewers.

I also don't think that Duh Nyooz Chanul should stay sat on its fat bottom in one studio all day... they should mix it up a bit.

Now that I agree with, I think the reason given is that N6 isn't all that flexible?

Yes, I did. I think the swear filter mustn't be working (at least on Neon).

Unfortunately, I'm not convinced they will have the resources to do anything other than what they do currently. Two shrubs behind a desk.

Is it me, or is all this a little, well, disappointing?

I've been waiting for this moment for years. Searching the internet for any scrap of information on NBH since they demolished Egton house. Gutted at the endless delays. Getting more and more excited. Sad I know, but I love architecture, and I'm a news geek, so this for me has been a perfect storm.

So I tuned in eagerly as each programme moved in: the first Marr show, then the Sunday Politics, Newswatch and HardTalk in the VR studio, and now Newsnight.

And each time I felt the same... Hmmmm. It's nice. It's OK. It's just not... wow.

And that's only weeks away now, it seems! I think World will be quite special, given that it needs to really maintain and build upon its success as an international news channel at the moment, and to also see the different looks for GMT, Impact, The Hub, World News Today. Can only expect an extra effort for these distinctive programmes.

Not forgetting those opening TOTH shots of the newsroom, which I presume we'll see when World arrives too. Another reason for excellence!

Just a random little point while I remember.

Went to TVC to see the final episode of Miranda Series 3 on Sunday Night. Something of an occasion not only because it was the end of series recording for the cast and crew, but also something of a milestone as we were informed (by Miranda herself) that it was to be the last sitcom recorded in that studio, TC8. She reeled off a list of comedies from French and Saunders to Dinnerladies, The Two Ronnies to her own show (and many more) which had been produced in TC8 over the years.

It was also suggested this would be the last sitcom to be produced at TVC overall - I'm assuming due to the upcoming selloff?
