The One Show won't get rebranded. They won't change the name of a popular show like that

You know changing the name isn't the same thing as a rebrand?

In that BBC Ariel article, this bit raises one or two questions . . .

There is also an intention to move The One Show next autumn from its Broadcast Centre studios to NBH.

So, BBC One's flagship primetime topical magazine show is likely to get a bit of a refresh as part of the move to NBH,
and I would imagine might include a new set. I wonder if any other visual aspects of The One Show could change.

I guess they are not going to build a studio specially for the One Show. So does that mean it will be in one of the news studios - sharing with Newsnight? Or in the virtual studio?

I wouldn't have thought they'd put The One Show in a news studio and especially not in the virtual studio.
Isn't it true that the current studio is just converted office space? Would they not just do that again in NBH, maybe?

I've heard that it'll be going to the space currently occupied by the BBC London studio. Apparently it has windows to the outside world behind all those screens. Who knew?

IIRC, the current BBC London was a temporary studio set up in what was supposed to become an open area for exhibitions / events, with access to the outdoors, with BBC London moving into a new studio as part of the new building once the works were complete (they moved to the temporary studio so the lease on Marylebone St. could be released). It's only in the last 18 months or so that the rumour mill has said BBC London were staying put, with their planned studio not being used.

If the One Show was to move, from what we've heard of the current BBC London studio, it would make a great home for them, and BBC London already have a suitable space to move to.

That maybe ... but a proper rebrand for a TV show or channel, should include a name change, not just a new look.
Even if BBC One becomes "BBC1" again, and "The One Show" becomes "The 1 Show" respectively ... alongside the
likelyhood of a new logo and set, that'd be enough of a name change to be classed as a rebrand. Simply having
a new logo and new set is merely redesigning the packaging of the product, rather than rebranding it.

As for the studio The One Show gets when they move, sharing with BBC London sounds like it could work, and
with any luck, it'll work better than the way BBC Breakfast shares the same studio as BBC North West Tonight,
or at the very least, it could be better received than the current Breakfast/NWT set up at Salford Quays.

Rebranding is the creation of a new name, term, symbol, design, or combination thereof for an established brand with the intention of developing a differentiated (new) position in the mind of stakeholders and competitors.

Make sure what you're saying has at least some basis in truth before posting.

Nonsense. A brand is much more than a name. Are you saying that this wasn't a rebrand because BA kept their name?

I don't think anyone suggested sharing, primarily because it wouldn't work. The One Show is on 2 minutes after BBC London finishes. Good luck with that turn-around!

This video has some behind the scenes footage of BH and I haven't seen it posted here before.

DoSAC's home is the Broadcast Centre, so it is safe. Smile

Nope, it was definitely in the Media Centre - you can tell by the double-height ground floor.

Ah, haven't been in there, didn't realise it looked the same as the (currently half empty) Broadcast Centre. Guess they look similar on the outside, so it makes sense.
