Interestingly, Robin Lustig is leaving The World Tonight in December. I wonder if he is going just before the move.
He's already been broadcasting from BH for his World Service programmes, but I don't think he'll be on TWT from there.

Here's a little on the current situation with regards to the emptying of TVC and the main White City building. Not much new info though it's interesting that they're still reviewing where exactly staff will go once all the other White City buildings close. It says that they're considering Birmingham as it has spare capacity though were they not pressing ahead with the emptying out of the Mailbox? It'll be interesting to see if they end up reversing that decision and build up a major base in Birmingham again.

Also some of the more questionable TVC catering facilities have closed or have greatly reduced the times they serve at in preparation for the closure, including the branch of Costa.

There's something about that Ariel article that just exemplifies everything I dislike about the day to day nature of the BBC. (I mean working there, and their work ethic).

I've lifted two quotes, both of which would fit well into an episode of The Thick Of It.

Quote:
The other part of the story is the move towards a new way of working that is more collaborative, flexible and conducive to creativity. So with space at a premium - and 15 people vying for every 12 desks - was this born out of necessity?

Quote:
'We need to get away from the concept of desk and space ownership and adopt a more sharing approach,' he states, 'to allow others to use the space, to leave it as you find it, to welcome people into your area and be ready to go and work in different places and in different ways as the need fits.'

Quote:
Home working, which might help avert any scramble for desks, will be encouraged 'when it suits people and their teams or functions', adds Greeves. 'There's a good proportion of people who could work from home occasionally.'

Which is BBC speak for: 'We've built a brand new building, which is actually already unable to meet our demands because we've put too many people into it'.

Who knows, maybe it's to move all the administration to the Mailbox, production to other bases...

But if you're a 24 hour operation, where at no point the entire workforce will be in the building at once, should you really need to have a desk for each person?

In that BBC Ariel article, this bit raises one or two questions . . .

There is also an intention to move The One Show next autumn from its Broadcast Centre studios to NBH.

So, BBC One's flagship primetime topical magazine show is likely to get a bit of a refresh as part of the move to NBH,
and I would imagine might include a new set. I wonder if any other visual aspects of The One Show could change.

You also highlight the important question of where DoSAC will have to relocate to when White City closes.

DoSAC's home is the Broadcast Centre, so it is safe. Smile

I would say that a new set is definite, but I don't think they should rebrand the programme until BBC One itself gets a new ident package.

Nope, it was definitely in the Media Centre - you can tell by the double-height ground floor.

Not that they'll need it again as this is the last series

The One Show won't get rebranded. They won't change the name of a popular show like that, Of course, when BBC One gets its next idents package, the show logo will be updated, and perhaps the theme music might also get a new remix.
