In regards to the HD flag, the BBC have a critera that a programme can only be considered HD if a certain percentage of the overall output is HD. I can't remember the percentage off the top of my head but it is quite high. Therefore the Andrew Marr show presumably does not yet meet this critera and therefore isn't listed as HD, even though some parts will be broadcast as such.

I may be talking absolute tripe but I seem to recall that it's been suggested on here a few times that Millbank uses old tech for resilience purposes.

Not sure how accurate that is / whether it is needed anymore with Salford & BH now available in addition to TVC.

As aconnell mentioned it seems virtually all the output will be native HD with the exception of the weather so meets the HD percentage criteria. The same happened with Breakfast in the week before it actually started from Salford although the EPG listing was only amended a few days before.

The weather will be upconverted, so not HD. Marr this weekend will include music at the close, so you will get to see the whole Marr end of the studio.

While some regions do their own downlinking, Salford isn't one of them - so satellite OBs are still downlinked in London and sent up to the Breakfast gallery.

Seems a bit short sighted. Do sport have downlinking at Salford?
I'd heard that a dish was going to be installed in time for the Olympics. Slightly scuffed, two careful owners. (Oxford Road and Pebble Mill)

Does this mean that if the BBC had to evacuate TVC for some reason that Salford wouldn't be able to take any OB's via satellite?
Sat ops can be controlled remotely, or another region could downlink it for them. (I think Cardiff downlinked a programme for BBC NI the other week, but I'm not sure of the circumstances.)

Hang on... the Marr end of the studio?

Does this mean they're not using the set below and just bunging the existing Marr set in another corner...?

Yes they are using the set in the image... that is the only set in Studio B and there is no additional space in that studio.

When he says the "Marr End" my guess is that he probably means the open area with the big Barco screen. Seen in the second image you posted.

That thread is facinating. Unusual to see so many construction photos without ITV wanting it to be taken down.

On Page 2 there is a plan of the new Corrie set. Unless I'm missing something, there doesn't appear to be a sound stage for the internals being built. Given the size of the bulid - are they going to put the sets elsewhere, or film in the actual buildings going up at the moment?

As in TC7, there were effectively 2 ends to the studio and Marr has only ever used one of them, apart from guest cutaways and the occasional band. The images posted above do not show where the Marr programme is sited. It isn't bunged in a corner.

There's a studio block going up next door to the outdoor set for the internals. The plans were all available a while ago on the relevant planning website.

ETA: Here's the application, unfortunatly the plans link isn't working at the moment (for me anyway).

There are three studios for the internal sets, one of which is dedicated to the Rovers. Unusually, all the interiors are laid out in full standing configuration - there were no swing-sets on any of the plans I've seen.
