Or even bring cameras from Egton with them to save moving Millbank's between the sets? I'd imagine it would be fairly straightforward to overplug them?

Not that simple - you'd need to bring the CCUs as well and plumb them in.

Egton uses Sony cameras (analogue triax BVPE30s I think) and Millbank is Thomson (Digital triax 1707s - horrid things) - so you couldn't just patch triax cables across - you'd need to install twice as many CCUs, RCPs (so you could rack the cameras), and then overplug the mixer and/or router. Not that straightforward...

Has BBC London News also moved today? The 6.30 bulletin does seem a bit iffy picture quality wise with a green screen backdrop not as good as per usual.

I've just watched it back, and it appeared to be in the normal studio. A few unusual camera angles, due to having a few guests in - but I'm pretty certain that it wasn't green screened.

Friday lunchtime's bulletin looked a bit like it was greenscreened, but the odd thing was that the weather was recorded in a different studio and presented by Michael Fish. The video quality of this wasn't as good, was wondering if that came from Millbank, although is Michael Fish filling in at another region?

Michael recorded the bulletin from Tunbridge Wells. BBC London's weather forecasters have also covered for the absent Kaye Forster at SET in return by pre recording forecasts from Egton.

BBC London did not move until Saturday, I admit they have been a little more experimental with the camera angles in the studio over the past couple of weeks, which actually makes far better use of the studio, than has happened up until then, I did like Friday night's programme when they dipped the lights and had pumpikins on all the of the screens around the presenter.

Is he a regular fixture down on SET then?
The forecast on Friday looked like it was coming off Beta SP, the contrast in picture quality was quite pronounced

Yes, SET use two freelancers in addition to the BBC's Kaddy and Kaye. Lara Lewington (who was on LT on Fri) is another regular.

Hurry up BBC News, and get in there! It's so annoying we won't see them in there for another 2/3 years. That is a stunning building.

Is it me or does that already look like a real life version of the newsrooms backdrops that have been rolled out to the regions Smile
