However, I am delighted the building is being kept as the BBC should keep at least two studios to be used for shows like National Lottery Live and Strictly. Yet the days when this huge building had 7000 staff and the studios were constantly in use are over.

The National Lottery Live draws have come from Arqiva's studios (formerly BFBS) for a number of years... They have much higher security (being co-sited with the MoD) than TVC had - and I believe they can leave the draw machines in situ rather than having to set/strike (and securely transport/store them elsewhere)

They also haven't been branded as The National Lottery Live for well over 10 years.

Longer than that - became simply "The National Lottery Draw" in 1997!

This next three weeks would, had buliding completed, logistics and staff been available , been ideal to move all the news operations over to BH, with so many OBs taking place.

The next three weeks would be ideal to leave everything in familiar territory technically, with all the complex OBs and opportunities for things to go wrong

The complexity of BBC News's operation at the Olympics is frankly confounding - it relies heavily on the infrastructure in SCAR. Trying to move News's main control room while so much is hanging off the back of it would be akin to pinning the tail on a donkey that's on crack.

There is a "Lockdown" at the moment that prevents anything changing that could mess up the Olympic coverage......makes a lot of sense as we only get it every 50 years or thereabouts so why take any risks on something this important? The BBCs reputation is at stake.

Is that the exact wording in the BBC's document... Wink

Quite possibly, though I imagine the banter used by the pygmies in suits closer to obscenities...

You can see the remains of another BBC sign that must have been taken down years ago and not replaced.

Is that Studio-A they're demolishing in that photo?
