Soooo... Rumour of World moving to BH on an earlier date, how will the 2130-2200 be shown on the NC? World news be broadcasted or a presenter in N9, N8 or TC7?

Also overnights on the NC? Will they come from the World News at BH or presenting from other TVC studios then?

When does World News & NC actually going to move to BH?

Unconfirmed rumours have suggested that TC7 will close first because that's not owned by BBC News. The 6 would move into N6 and the 5 o'clock and 9 o'clock hours would be broadcast from N8. Nothing about overnights has been said on this forum, and even the above was just speculation and plans could have easily changed by now. That plan does make the most logical sense, however.

Someone has already advised that another studio in TVC would be used. I can't recall which. If I remember correctly there was a plan for TC7 to be returned soonest - probably late September/October once Marr, Sunday Politics and Newsnight have moved to Broadcasting House. I think it was suggested that World's current studio would then be used for the Five O Clock hour on the news channel and the 21:30 half hour as currently. It may however have been N9 that had been said though.

TC7 is long term rented from BBC Resources. It has an option until November 2012. After this, as it is SD, it will be mothballed.

Interesting that the sale price of the whole of TVC was less than what BBC Worldwide earned for the corporation in just one year.

It does seem relatively small in comparison to the bigger picture.

You may be confused over the reasons. TC4 will be used during the Olympics.

Not the world's best pic, but nice to see the newsroom with some life!

As to news about keeping some studios in TVC, given that the exterior of TC1 and the ring containing some of the other studios is listed there is a fair possibility some could be kept, especially the profitable HD converted ones.

Nostalgia aside the disposal of TVC from BBC assets was coming - the broadcast environment has changed too much and calls for the BBC to become smaller are coming from all sides. At least the corporation is housing another building that has a lot of history with the corporation: Broadcasting House. The listing at least means that it will remain as a landmark, hopefully with some sort of plaque or board stating 'For 50 years great television was made here'.

The gallery will be in use to allow network news bulletins to be broadcast in HD during the Olympics. Essentially it'll be used to cut between the *ahem* "Stratford Broadcast Tower", and an upconverted N6.

So the news will be in HD during the Olympics, but go back to SD afterwards until the move to NBH?
