A nice head-on shot of the NC studio and the atrium above.

Which is why I am surprised that the whole of the Granada TV lot, in Manchester, is not listed as that is older than Television Centre, and purpose built for the job just as much as Television Centre was.

Not quite as iconic though.

Fairly dull fifties building whose most interesting feature formed part of a Granada Studios Tour and which is iconic as the most famous street in the North, but the Quay St studios are too dull from the outside.

Looking at that new pic and some previous ones, the newswall will basically be in front of the main desk so it won't be hiding any parts of the newsroom, which is good.

I think the BBC will have a newsroom to be proud of and all of their new buildings in recent years such as Salford Quays, Pacific Quay and BH are striking. The Mailbox isn't such a fantastic looking building, but was clever.

Except they're moving out of the Mailbox, despite all the money spent on it...

I think the BBC or ITV seem that bothered about Birmingham now. I am old enough to remember when Pebble Mill had its famous chat show, produced the Archers, contributed shows like All Creatures Great and Small to the network, produced music programmes for BBC Radio as well as being the HQ for the English Regions and BBC Midlands. Also ATV had its mighty ATV Centre on Broad St.

They have already back peddled on selling TV Centre .

Isn't that simply because the "preferred buyer" pulled out.

I don't think the listing of the building helped either.

Is it listing to the port or starboard?

They are? I knew that some of the network productions were going to Bristol and Cardiff but I thought regional stuff was staying there?

Where could they move to?

Is there space at the Drama Village?

What about the Fort Dunlop place where the Post & Mail / Trinity Mirror live?

Move into Gas Street & bunk up with ITV?

Latter is a possibility, facilities are in place - just the old CTA/Central pres etc would be reoccupied by BBC West Mids

As far as I know they have no plans to move!

Maybe enough room for Midlands Today, but nothing else. Remember there's 2 radio stations and The Archers to fit in as well as a lot of central facilities for the English Regions

No, I've not heard anything either, I've been to the Mailbox a few times it always seems over full, with the network TV stuff going those that are left are hardly going to be rattling around
