I'm sure if OFCOM asked the public what they wanted, most would opt for the option of viewing content on a 42" HDTV than a 4" mobile screen .

Your mobile must be huge!

Guess I meant 4' then - I'm a metric boy myself!

Re: new muxes. Like analogue channels there is a finite amount of space available and each mux roughly takes up the space of one channel. OFCOM could release additional space from the spare spectrum after DSO - and up until this week this is what broadcasters had been campaigning for - but OFCOM are more interested in selling off the spectrum in the hope of a multi-billion pound bidding war, as we saw with mobile companies a few years back.

Q: It's one thing Freeview boxes not becoming obsolete due to this plan, but if anyone buys a HDTV with built in Freeview now, am I right in thinking it won't be able to get HD TV without a new box - or is it likely products like this could be updated via an over-the-air upgrade.

New box - DVB-T2 and H264 in HD aren't the kind of upgrades that are feasible for any conventional DVB-T MPEG2 SD Freeview module (even if in an HD Ready display)

What about BT Vision? Will that be capable of HD broadcasts, the existing box?

I'm not sure - it's supposed to be capable of downloading HD content, but whether it could receive these would depend on whether it's using MPEG-4 technology I guess.

When I saw my mates HD TV showing BBC HD, it didn't impress much. Is there really any point?

They must have thier TV set up wrong or something, BBC HD is jaw-droppingly good, as is the football on Sky Sports HD.

Has anyone posted the C4 HD logo on here yet?

Should be on Sky HD in a couple of weeks.

I thought it was an awful mock made by the poster at first Embarassed

It should be more blockish.

Also, can analogue actually be converted to digital? Could that mean an extra five muxes for Freeview?

4 inches (") is big unless you have a touchscreen phone. 4 feet (') is massive.

That is rather hideous.

4 HD is just a simulcast of C4 isn't it, rather than the pick of programming from across C4, E4, More4 and Film4.
