Glad it's not just me then. At my previous employers, everyone used to twiddle their fingers round and round the control panel of our brand new machine trying to find Eject!

I can't remember the exact model, but they stupidly put it where the record button used to be, so if your acustomed to pressing the button on the front panel without thinking you set the machine into standby record!

It's the other way round, the record is where the eject used to be - and it's got a little wall round it like the old eject used to!

It's all their new, smaller multiformat machines, which are also annoying because they've put everything into a menu on the front panel after years of them being seperate buttons - spend ages trawling round and round the pages to find E-E or the timecode generator

I just noticed that I wrote it wrong but you corrected it now! That really bugs me, when you have to go into the menu to put it into regen / preset mode and if you've not got the monitor set to view the super output, you have to do an entire rewiring job round the back if you can get to it and make sure you've not put the deck into some other stupid mode.

There's worse than that though. Trying to preset a time code on modern jog/shuttle machines. It's easy to reset it to 00:00:00:00 and to flick between the hours minutes etc, but trying to get the number you want holding down VAR and rotating the shuttle it always goes far too fast. I remember you rotated the shuttle through the numbers, now it's just flies through!

The worse deck there is has to be the J30s - OK they're domestic machines that play everything but they're slow to respond and if you want to go into jog / shuttle mode you have to keep pressing the bloody button to activate it!
