Not really surprised that Eastenders took home the honors of Best Soap. Corrie has been declining with those nonsense storylines and proved to be no threat.
The only storyline that has spoken to me with Corrie is the tragic death of Mike Baldwin. He thoroughly deserved that award.
Notice that most of Eastenders awards were voted for by the viewers, with only 2 voted by the panel. For some reason the public often vote EE, maybe the source of the voting forms is in a magazine that more EE fans read. Or maybe EE fans are more likely to vote in these sort of things than Corrie fans.
Did Corrie not sweep the board last year? Who voted for them then?
Although Corrie swept the board last year, EE always manage to pick up quite a few of the 6 viewers voted awards.
Just mean the Fans like it ,Corrie have won the same awards before...

What do you mean Corrie have won the same awards before?
Best Actress was Suranne Jones in 2004 and 2005 but every year before that it was EE. Best Actor has always been EE I think apart from Brian Capron (Richard Hillman) winning in 2003.
Sexiest Male has always been EE in previous years, as has Sexiest Female apart from last year when someone from Hollyoaks won it.
Villan of the Year has been EE apart from Richard Hillman (2003) and Maya Sharma (2005).
Corrie have got Best soap in 1999 (the first ever soap awards) 2003 and 2005.
So it usually is EE for some reason in the public vote categories.

I was claiming that Corrie have won the awards you are talking about before via the public voting,The Public decided they liked Eastenders more this year

I know they have. But the point I am making is that more often than not Eastenders win
more
of the awards in the viewer voted categories - usually half of them at least, even when Corrie does sweep the board overall.
The credibility of these awards always hangs on the big one - and once again the result is dodgier than a US presidential election!
There has never been a better time for the BBC to axe EastEnders and let the quality of it's new drama series emerge from the shadows of it's over-rated soap!
Do we ever get to see who come 2nd and third in all awards? I'd love to know how many votes people had or didn't have? According to this morning the word on the street was Emmerdale won best soap
The one award that has hit me for six has to be- best newcomer,I don't know who
Charlie Clements (Bradley) was up against but he doesn't strike me as the person you'd vote for
The Two awards I'm glad Eastenders got are-
Best Villain -Billy Murray (Fully deserved)
Best Single Episode - Armistice Day (Incredible Episode,Infact I'd say the best Moving Eppie i have ever seen)

Btw what is that rubbish in your signature?
Are Granada that bothered by these awards (not a rhetorical question) : According the ratings in
Broadcast
each week, it is Coro that comes out on-top virtually every week-- EE rarely achieves the highest rating programme of the week. Coro does seem to get the right balance of comedy-drama most of the time... EE always feels funereal to me, especially since Mr Ritchie left. Emmerdale to its credit has improved over the past few years.
