Will not create problems for next year though because once its back on air... live... who knows what they will say about the programme not airing this year.

If what was said this year is anything to go by...

Quote:
[Jonathan Ross] told the audience ITV had cancelled the TV People's Choice vote because they "believe people are scum and don't care what they think".

When winner Simon Amstell asked if the show was "going out tonight" Ross, who now works for the BBC, retorted: "Of course it's not going out. ITV is run by fools and thieves."

Earlier, he told the nominees: "We don't know for sure if this will ever go out or not so if you win an award this year, like most of the telephone votes, it doesn't really count and you will still be charged."

Oh do you love a dig, yes there is more to life than TV and I do have bigger worries - but of course, a nice bit of live comedy would have cheered me up a bit. Wink

Of course but 'absolutely fuming' over a TV show is a bit extreme. Really some people on here should run TV cos they base their lives around it much more than those actually working in it.

Laughing Well he's right, they still could have shown the awards without the peoples vote, but wait, that would mean ITV wouldn't be able to make any money out of it Rolling Eyes Wink

Go Ross! I think he's judged the overall mood pretty well there. With comments as extreme as that it sounds like he doesn't care if they sack him, which they probably will. I bet Jimmy Carr gets a phonecall between now and next December.

The thing is that he's hired by the production company rather than ITV (especially with him having a contract with the BBC) ITV just hold the rights to air the awards I do believe, and I doubt that the production company will get rid of Jonathan Ross any time soon.

They paid a £700,000 blocking fee to prevent rival channels airing the ceremony as it happened.

That I didn't know. That's just pure greed; "we're not allowed to show it but it's still ours and you're not having it Twisted Evil "

Not showing it for starters is utter cowardice, but the blocking fee just tops it off - and the viewer ultimately loses out because of that.

People have the right to be more than slightly annoyed at Mr Grade (or should that be 'Mr Greed'?) at his honestly selfish decision, especially while the genuinely money-grabbing waste of space that is Make Your Play continues without question. Priorities are more than a little wrong at this moment, that's how I see it.

I think if ITV are going to not show (live) a programme due to it being involved with the phone voting scandal then they should do the same with the other programmes which were also involved. Off-hand this would mean not showing I'm a Celeb, X-Factor, and Saturday Night Takeaway. Somehow I doubt ITV will do this, which seems to be a case of double standards from ITV.

I can't say I've missed it at all! I've been working in a theatre all this week so I haven't been watching much TV, suffice to say I know who won though - don't really want to sit through 2 hrs of Jonathan Ross when he's already on Friday as well!

Not sure Wossy's jibe of "I'm worth 100 BBC journalists" was equally well received Laughing
