Well that must be the first time the show has ended early and that was even after a special award for Wossy.

That's because there was no Johnny Vegas to stretch it out for 50 minutes. They should have had Vegas on standby with his Guinness just in case Laughing

Unlike most years, i'm actually really happy with the results. Finally Harry Hill got what he deserved as opposed to Ant and Dec for once. Also Little Britain lost out to Mitchell and Webb which was about time! The only award i was a bit dissapointed with was the best newcomer female, Katherine Parkinson should have won that, she is great. It's a shame The IT Crowd didn't get nominated at all actually. It's a rare decent new sitcom.

So, hang on, the show hasn't actually finished - it continues with more awards on ITV2, hosted by Liza Tarbuck.

Yes, didn't you hear Jonathan mention ITV2 on countless occasions as he was filling for time ?

I'm so happy about Harry Hill. I'm sure ITV are now happy that they recommissioned it. Fantastic show.

Also glad that Green Wing came second in the people's choice award. they were never going to beat Ant and Dec, but beating the other two is no mean feat. Very Happy

Last nights highlights programme had a clip of Paul Merton having to fill because they were running early. He didn't notice (or ignored) the hand signal for stretch and fill so had to run back on and tell a few jokes

Did anybody catch Oliver Stone's attempt at a joke on ITV2?

"It's great to be back in England..it feels like the jack the ripper days are back again."

Sad

Bad timing - he should have thought a bit more. Rolling Eyes

Anyway, what is the obsession with Courtney Love at the moment, is she contracted to appear on every comedy programme at the moment?

Comedy is all about timing, it's why we need to make jokes about Alexander Litvinenko - afterall they will only be half as funny in 15 years time. Laughing

Such vile jokes make me sweat like a Russian at a sushi bar.

I don't get why this is on ITV.

Are they not watching it and feeling rather embarrassed at their lack of comedy, Harry Hill excepted (and his is a clip show).

Sure they've made up awards to get Ant n Dec to win something for ITV ("comedy entertainment") but in all the real categories, the nominations were clean sweeps for the BBC and Channel 4.

Even five managed a genuine comedy nomination.

And then as well as broadcasting this advert for other channels, they have a presenter who's tied to the BBC and happily slates ITV live on air.

I can understand having the "soap awards" as fitting with ITV's viewer demographic, but frankly having the comedy awards on ITV is a joke in itself.
