Ant & Dec won the "People's Choice Award" which shows just why the general public shouldn't be allowed to vote for these things.

Agreed, I wouldn't put Ant and Dec under proper comedy, they're funny but they're not exactly comedians. Though why Fame Academy was selected was beyond me, it got no laughs or calls at all. Bo Selecta or Dead Ringers should have won the award.

So who should vote in the "People's Choice Award" then?

Well in a comedy awards programme, I'd imagine comedy?

Well, smart arse, I'm obviously saying that there shouldn't be a people's choice award.

Anyone spot the irony of the British Comedy Awards being screened on ITV? Very Happy

I think itv should have put Harry Hill's TV Burp in there. But they knew that they would win with Ant & Dec.

And how Jonathan Ross kept saying things with the word 'this' and 'the BBC', with Des Lynam correcting him once saying it was an itv programme.

I think Hardware should have won new comedy. I have watched 'My New Best Friend', it was an interesting programme, but I didn't find it funny. At least I found bits of hardware funny.

And after all of these years, I laughed at every one of the Croft/Perry programme clips. They thoroughly deserved it. And Lenny Also deserved it for his 'Lifetime of Performance', as the new award was named.

Although, as with most old things, they probably had to go through a pile of crap whilst looking for the best bits.

Well, say what you mean then.

And don't call me smart arse.

There's now a second lifetime achievement award and it has gone to Jimmy Perry and David Croft, which I would say is more deserved.

But why two lifetime achievement awards on the same night?

Lenny's one was for performance, the other was for non-performance, presumably this is the way they will do in in future. A good idea as there are many unsung behind the camera people who deserve such an award

We wouldn't have wanted it to be posthumous now would we?

In regard to Lenny Henry, a tad previous to say the least. Bit like when This is Your Life did slebs in their twenties. What life?

Lenny has probably crammed more professionally into the last 30 years than some of his peers will in their whole career. He started off very young.
