I refuse to watch any more Britain's Got Talent, simply because of the torrent of awful hashtags.
I cant watch because of Amanda Holden.
You wouldn't have noticed she was there tonight.
Anyhow not a bad opener - though they might have more luck in finding the new SuBo if they didn't so obviously build up the acts for that big SuBo moment. They did out voice The Voice though with that last act.
I think that girl at the end of The Voice was better, but there you go, it's all down to opinions/taste!
Anyway, I think BGT really has declined in quality, the constant jumping between cities and judges (in the case of Carmen and Amanda) really is quite distracting and I think is finally taking it's toll. The judging panel is better this year, with Amanda and Dixon being the weak-links to the panel, theres just something flat about it this year for me, its very predictable (thanks to it's editing).
I really don't like the jumping between cities, especially with the varying judge line ups, but do think the talent seems stronger than last year. I do wonder if Amanda hadn't been pregnant whether they'd have ditched her as she does seem surplus to requirements this year.
Any word on whether they'll have a new set again this year. They are staying at Fountain so whether Simon will throw money at a new set again I don't know. I wasn't really a fan of the one used last year - the previous "new" set from 2010 was better IMO - though could do with being bigger.
Am I right in thinking The Voice battles were filmed at Fountain - the set looks so much bigger than it does for BGT.
Doesn't seem to be a thread so far, so I'll start one to share some Pudsey love. The right two acts went through tonight, and overall a high quality semi-final with no real duff acts - though they are to come later in the week.
Nice update of last years stage too - seems much bigger but is essentially the same set with a few bits added on. Not sure about them dropping the titles completely though, especially when the intro tonight was basically a rehash of the one from last weeks auditions and the premiere.
Like The Voice, they have also introduced a 5 digit mobile short code that one can dial to vote if that is something that makes you feel good about yourself. The next logical step will be for these programmes to introduce just one number for voting, so you dial the number and then cast your vote using the buttons on your telephone. This will shorten the part of the programme that just consists of the presenter reading out meaningless numbers. They just need to add an extra line to the terms and conditions, "Callers with a rotary phone will not be able to vote but will still be charged, all callers will be added to a suckers list".
