Firstly I hope there isn't another thread - I did search for one , honest, but I always manage to miss them! Laughing

So I see BGT has new titles, I was hoping there would be as the previous ones have been uses for 4 series IIRC. I think the titles are pretty good, not really really different but a nice revamp nethertheless.

They got a little too complacent last year and updated the set thinking that would make it feel fresher, but the new titles, straps and music are only small touches that will probably barely noticeable to any ordinary viewer but it does feel a lot fresher. I like the new music inparticular, it reminds me of when ITV 'beefed up' the Dancing on Ice theme when it moved to Sundays.

The new judging panel works a lot better than previously. Simon returning for the live shows is probably only a safety net in case the new panel doesn't work out, but I really don't see the need for him to return and I don't think ITV have anything to worry about. The show will feel like its going backwards. I actually prefer it without him on it, but I don't expect him to be on it at all come next year.

I agree that last years set update wasn't too great tbh. The set felt a bit 'flat' if that makes sense, nothing had much depth. Sometimes in general tv terms, they often seem to refresh titles/sets etc and often seem to make it worse, but these BGT changes have made a noticable improvement. Like you say the music is pretty much the same, but just has been 'beefed up' a bit.

Yeah Michael in particular I'm liking, but then I like his stand up anyway. The Hoff ok so far, but then his hardly been any many new UK shows in how long, so I expected it would take a bit longer to get used to him. Yeah if it goes well this year I don't expect to see Simon Cowell at all either - this seems to be the start of Simon slowly not being "the face" of both BGT and X Factor.

Can't help but wonder if they're seeing how this new series pans out without Simon Cowell (at least till the live shows) before they announce the judging panel for X Factor. I like the guy, but I don't think he's the big draw that they think he is.

Loved tonights 'Got Talent' Micheal McIntyre & David Hassleoff were great replacements for Cowell & Morgan, loved the first act 'Joanna Lumley' & 'Simon Cowell' HA! Very Happy

That Mary woman is quite clearly off her trolley. I think. It's hard to tell sometimes where the act ends and the person begins.

More Talent gets more surreal every year. Or is it just the acts picked for the spin-off show that get more surreal?

I think the new titles are a welcome change after four years of the same ones. I'm also finding the show just as watchable as when Simon was on the panel - and I'm now thinking that his return for the live semi-finals is perhaps unnecessary. Will bring some publicity and all that, but I do think the new panel is strong enough to hold the show without Simon.

Amanda does my head in, why is she there again? If it wasn't for the Hoff and McIntyre the show would be dead on its knees.

I'm watching it back on ITV Player now, and the adverts are on... but so far, I quite like it. Amanda and Michael seem to get on really well, and Michael lightens it all up considerably.

The judges are fine, though McIntyre generally annoys me - and obviously covering his nerves by having to make a joke out of everything. Lacking talent though last night - BGT has never been quite as bad as TXF when it comes to sidelining the promising talent in favour of the obviously awful, but last night even the acts that got through were obviously awful. Indeed the better acts were brushed aside in a montage.

Like the new titles - not sure about the music though. I suspect the set will be the same this year, but it would be good if they could make the stage bigger to be more accomodating to acts such as Spelbound and Diversity. Indeed that act with all those kids last night would never fit on the live finals stage.

I see on Digital Spy Simon says they're spending £1m on another new set. Not quite sure why really - yes, last years new set wasn't anything spectacular, but I'd have thought it had another year in it. It's biggest problem really was the stage wasn't really big enough to accommodate acts like Spelbound and the street dance groups - but they managed and haven't really got such acts dominating this series, so I'd have given it another outing this year really.

This does have something to do with TV presentation rather than the usual "what acts do you like" etc type post .Ahead of the live shows starting on Monday apparently there's going to be a new set.

Sometimes you can get pictures of the new set ahead of being on TV through twitter i.e people at Fountain Studio's. Only have some limited shots at the minute. Seems like it might be new to me, from what you can see.
