Another excellent episode last night with some talented acts. Now I know im against a singer winning this show but the lady who made Amanda cry when she said she was entering to get her children back home was amazing.

Also liked the 2 martial arts guys - cant think why! Wink

No she wasn't amazing at all - just milking her situation to try and win the sympathy vote. I might sound hard (and I FF through her story as I wanted to be entertained not moved) but I don't believe they should drag in this sort of thing to a talent competition.

Simon and Amanda clearly thought that Dean would be a success regardless of whether they put him through to the final. A West End show singer (and one with a pretty good future I reckon at that once he's had some training) doesn't really have an 'act' or a unique selling point. Signature do, as does the dog. Sadly, I fear that both are more-or-less one-trick ponies.

However, it's great that ITV have taken the opportunity to reinvigorate the Royal Variety Performance and attempt to put the Variety back into it. And if they've revived the old talent show formula while they're at it, all the better.

I couldn't agree more. Dean's performance was good, I thought, but it lacked the acting and drama of his audition so I felt a bit disapointed - I hope someone does pick him up and train him, he has bags of potential.

The dog (and her amazing trainer let's not forget) and Signature are pretty much one-trick ponies yes - I liked signature but it wasn't really so different to the audition and a third outing in the final will have to provide something else to entertain me - and set it apart from being just a dance act.

The booing of the Keyboard man was disgraceful, and just shows how thick the people in that audience were.

Thing is though he really wasn't worthy of his place, there were some much better acts that missed out.

However, they seem to put through a number of naff performers so as to keep up the entertainment value. Whether or not he was actually entertaining or not is another matter but I don't like the baying mob.

Good first show though, the set all looked impressive, is it the same as last years ? And I take it it's at Fountain studios ?

Notice its not going head to head with The Apprentice tonight! Personally I'm not a great fan of the show, its an improvement on The X Factor though, now that really is awful!

Why is the Apprentice on tonight? Isn't it usually a Wednesday?

Are England playing, if so, I don't know why they just put it over on BBC 2, no ones interested in watching England in a friendly, are they?

I seem to be the only person in the country that didn't rate Signature then - I just don't get it.

IMO they're nothing more than an average dance act - in their audition it was the comic surprise twist that got them through, not the dancing. I just found their performance rather dull last night.

Back to Dean, and agree his performance last night wasn't as good as the auditions, and I think that'll be the case with a few people this week as they're holding back for the final, though that's a very risky strategy. Dean didn't stand a chance of winning though when going head to head with other singers.

Isn't the set for the live shows from a early series of Takeaway?

It reminds me of something!

So, in the final are:
1. Signature
2. Kate and Jin
3. Andrew Johnston
4. The Cheeky Monkeys

Not quite sure what qualifies two kids pushed into fame by their Rosalind Russel mums to be the most talented beings in Britain. Then again, I don't see what qualifies a constipated chorister who got the sympathy vote by making Amanda Holden blub to be famous. But there we are!
