The new series of Britain's Got Talent starts tonight on ITV1 at 7.45pm.

Im glad this has got a second series as although its not as good as The X Factor IMO it was an entertaining series.

Im also happy to see the auditions will be played out on a Saturday night over several weeks rather than being on every night for a week or so. I did find that quite difficult to keep up with to be honest.

Apart from the schedule changes the format appears to be the same as last year with the same judges and presenters, auditions and then the live semi finals and final.

And of couse Ant and Dec will be back on primetime Saturday night after a few weeks break!

Actually I think BGT was better compared to the last year's X Factor, I do like how there's a variety of acts from singing. I'm glad it's back anyways.

At least this one doesn't pretend to be something other than a talent show. That surely counts for something.

Yeah I agree its good there is more variety in this than X Factor, I just seemed to enjoy X Factor more. Perhaps because this was over within 2 weeks last year I didnt get a chance to get into it as much.

Beats The X Factor hands down IMO. As jrothwell97 says, at least this doesn't pretend to be offering a fast track to stardom.

Although the audition format is better here than other shows - the live audience makes the difference - I think I'd have preferred them to strip the auditions over one week and then have the live shows weekly rather than the other way round - but that's a very minor moan really.

Did you see the guy with the keyboard at the start - what an absolute joke! I am a pretty amateur keyboard player, and not very good at it, but I can honestly say that I could do better than that. He was not in time with backing track at all, he still needed his books in case he forgot (I think I have one of those books he had). It wasn't even his own song ffs. Why did they say yes?

One thing that annoys about BGT, is that it includes singers. Surely there are enough singing contest on TV already-- it think it would better if they had any other act apart from singers maybe?

Because people who can sing well are talented.

I thought that would have been obvious.

Anyway, is this really as bad as it sounds? In the Radio Times Piers Moron was talking about someone who promised to 'make maths funky'.

That would be classic television.

I hate sob stories, but at least there was only 1 compared to 10 on X Factor.
