The crowd were refreshing tonight - they only booed the ones that deserved it, and for once when Simon Cowell and the judges were being critical when criticism was deserved, the audience were supporting them.

Stage looked good, though the main stage seemed smaller than the audition stage to be honest. Very American Idol set IMO.

Only thing I didn't agree with was the voting method, not so much that the judges had a choice, but that the public weren't informed of the format prior to the voting opening/closing. I, and many others I'm sure, assumed in this case the public had complete control - especially with only two going through.

For some shows the twist of the judges vote is needed - but I don't think this is one of them.

A couple of twists I'd suggest myself - firstly, if all three judges hit their buzzer, the act should be eliminated.

And secondly, I think this sort of show could do with a Wildcard show - so the judges choice of the losing semi-finalists and some of those before that get the chance to compete for one last place in the final.

P.S. No text vote again - now, it could be due to the time frame, but since BB announced they were dropping text voting due to concerns about it's reliability, I've noticed it's disappeared from other shows you'd expect to have them too.

I get whats happening now. Discuss this further tomorrow. Mr Potts has a good voice. But we still have that little actress who done my fair lady to see again yet.

Ah yes, I forgot about her. Simply brilliant.

Simon Cowell summed her up perfectly, when he said she was "absolutely charming". Whilst Mr Potts undoubtedly has a superb voice, he doesn't have a Russell Watson-style character/charisma to go with it somehow.

My personal favourite is the axe-grinder woman, with the bubbly personality-- I haven't seen anything so funny or entertaining for ages (yes I need to get out more Laughing ). The look on Amanda's and Simone's face was priceless-- Moron was quite taken too!! Quite what QEII would make of axe-grinder woman though, is another matter Laughing

Averaged 7.9 million last night, peaked at a whopping 8.9 million. I expected it to do well but not this well. A bit of a surprise hit for ITV.

Not surprising to me, since everyone likes a good Talent show, especially when it's not repetitive. Laughing

Is it me or has anyone else noticed this?

I think our logo is much better than the US/Aus version.

One thing I didn't like about last nights show though was the short time each act had - little more than a minute and a half I'd guess.

We did seem to see more of them in the audition shows.

Althought it was originally going to be based on the American logo - glad they changed it.

The 6 year old Connie has already become a YouTube hit with her rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Wouldn't surprise me if she wins.

I know just one person is going to win but surely they will put through more then one act onto the Royal Variety, it's such a tight competition!

that lad listening to his head phones just cracked me up, did he not have the sense to realise the audience would not hear the music Rolling Eyes

glad to see the kids were good, not 'good' in the eye of their dotting mothers who can't see their inability to sing through all that infant school cuteness

But it think it works with the words Australia and America but not with the word Britian. The Grease Is the Word logo changed as well from the promos to the actual show, I surpose they need to get the ads on-air as soon as possible so they think about the logo beetween then and when the production starts.
