Indeed but the performance isn't until December, so the prize isn't really linked to the fact that ITV are showing it this year. They could still win this prize if it was on BBC1

ITV would need to have an agreement from the BBC though as the shows are produced by the respective broadcaster.

That said, it doesn't need to be a hurdle to the show, it's just the cash prize up for grabs in the US.

The show got 8.9m viewers on Friday by the way, beating everything else other than the 7.30pm edition of Coronation Street (and that only managed 9.0m)

I think a second series is pretty much confirmed. Maybe in the slot that Grease is the Word has just vacated next Spring

Maybe they will do it over 9 days again like this series? Has it ever been said series 2 would be weekly like the X Factor is?

I would prefer it weekly I think though.

I'm just drawing similiarities with Pokerface. You can see why they ran BGT over a week. If it was a flop it would be over and done with quickly

Whether it comes back daily or weekly I expect there will be more audition shows and more live shows leading to a longer run overall

I read something online that Paul's received training and been on opera courses and stuff.

I'd get my money back - for someone who's supposedly had training that's a very mediocre voice and TERRIBLE Italian pronunciation.

Oh p**s off, why are people having a go at Paul just because he had some training?

Because with training I'd expect a better f*cking voice than that.

I'm not perfect but his annunciation and sound were terrible.

Are you jealous? Wink

Personally I thought he was fantastic. I love a song with great build up.

Not really - my voice is currently shot to pot after my false chords were infected, they're just clearing up now. His voice was just too reedy and wibbly-wobbly for someone who had, according to The Scum, "trained with PAVAROTTI".

It was interesting tonight to see that Amanda didn't go for the sob story. I was just aching for one of the Barwizards to say "well, my brother's not dead.... but I did have a budgie...."

Do you think the Queen is watching this and furiously been hitting the redial to try and secure her fave act to play the Royal variety performance.

I was thinking the exact same thing, I bet she has Royal servants assigned to vote as much as they can. Laughing

Does anyone think there could be a possibility of having a `Stars In Their Eyes Final vote count runthrough` for the final? I doubt it but it would be nice. Had always thought there was much more suspense doing it that way than just blurting out the winner.

I was expecting better things out of this show personally. I don't think they have the right acts, and through all the crap and little kids there are the occasional moments of unique talent...... trouble is, once you've seen it once , it gets somewhat boring after a while.

Yes I can see exactly why they did it but the only thing now is ITV have nothing much to show on Saturday nights until The X Factor comes back in August. Saturday nights have been so good on ITV1 since September with X Factor, Saturday Night Takeaway, Family Fortunes, Dancing on Ice (not my thing but it was very popular) Grease is the Word (not that popular but I liked it) Gameshow Marathon etc. Its seems the next couple of Saturday's the main programme in the schedule will be a film followed by yet another episode of WWTBAM.

Yes, next week looks pretty dismal, especially ;

9pm Secrets of Celebrity Stars in Their Eyes

Why bother with that, the programmes been axed anyway hasn't it ?

BGT got 8.9m last night, peaking at 9.9m.

The one thing that bothers me about this show is that I can see a lot of singers and dancers going through, so I fear it may become a glorified X-Factor .

On that basis I'm glad the Bar Wizards went through; but it's a shame the other "standalone" acts, such as Victoria Armstrong (angle-grinder), Jake Pratt (young comedian) and that impressionist bloke, didn't get through. Those sort of "unique" acts make it variety, rather than just dance troupes and turgid kareoke IMO.

I think that's why they need a wildcard show too - after the live shows have the judges bring back some acts that were either eliminated or didn't make the semis for a final place in the final.

According to today's papers the other act axed was the transexual girl band, due to some of them being prostitutes.

I assume then the two "mistakes" revealed after the finalists were revealed on Wednesday were edited in as last minute and called up to replace the axed acts, rather than chosen as genuine mistakes and added to the semi-final line up.

I've really enjoyed BGT, i assume it will be back for a second run. If they do they should exclude singers because there is X Factor for that..

Those things twirling either side of the set, do you think that will be used for the new series of X Factor.
