Do you think the Queen is watching this and furiously been hitting the redial to try and secure her fave act to play the Royal variety performance.

She probably has been, and later on tonight she will yet again be taking part in Make Your Play. She is crazy I tell you. Cool

That would be after she's watched Tiswas then. I always sensed she was a cool chick who's down with the big kids.

I reckon she would have been voting for Dr. Gore.

If the Kit Kat Dolls were in the semi-finals, she would've voted for them, no doubt...

The show got 8.9m viewers on Friday by the way, beating everything else other than the 7.30pm edition of Coronation Street (and that only managed 9.0m)

I think a second series is pretty much confirmed. Maybe in the slot that Grease is the Word has just vacated next Spring

Probably not spring, that would clash with Simon's commitments on American Idol.

What happened to the Kit Kat Dolls then, didn't they get through ?

So once again the cute kid at the end (who isn't really that good) gets the vote!

Worth noting all three put through by the public, and two of the runner-ups have been singers. All three put straight through were the final performers too - especially significant considering how they dodgily open the lines immediately after that performance has finished.

And you just know if Connie had been the singer in the vote off, they wouldn't have had the heart to vote her off!

I'm assuming ITV have the rights to the Royal Variety this year - I wonder if that will be the prize in years they don't have the rights?

(alternate years isn't it with the BBC?)

I read something online that Paul's received training and been on opera courses and stuff.

I'd get my money back - for someone who's supposedly had training that's a very mediocre voice and TERRIBLE Italian pronunciation.

Oh p**s off, why are people having a go at Paul just because he had some training?

Because with training I'd expect a better f*cking voice than that.

I'm not perfect but his annunciation and sound were terrible.

Are you jealous? Wink

Personally I thought he was fantastic. I love a song with great build up.

Indeed but the performance isn't until December, so the prize isn't really linked to the fact that ITV are showing it this year. They could still win this prize if it was on BBC1

I expect BGT will be much bigger in 2008, aired on Saturday nights over 2-3 months X Factor style.

Apparantly American Idol airs on Wednesdays so Simon could possibly do both at once
