In theory would they be able to get anyone who came into contact with them tested and press on? Or do they have to shut down for 2 weeks.
If the latter then it could well mean it gets canned, Ant & Dec presumably will be gearing up for I'm a Celeb by then. Plus it's the acts who they'll have booked.
Safety first of course but would be a shame if it got cancelled.
I don't think it's an "immediate" clear even if someone tests negative, as there's a window of time after exposure where a test isn't reliable. The length of that window depends on the test though.
So there would still be a need to isolate and postpone recording, but it might bring down the need to do so for 14 days.
That's a shame if so. If Little Mix can be back next Saturday, you'd think BGT would be able to do the same.
Can't imagine there's much else booked in at LH2, there are no TV recordings planned as far as I know and no upcoming tours to rehearse for (which is what the space is usually used for).
Issue around availability of course but again, is there that much else going on just now?
You'd have to extend the hire on all the kit, cancel (possibly with penalties) the crew who were going to take it all apart, rearrange all the crew and performers for the actual filming and so on. It's not as simple as just is the building available.
I expect the Xmas special was only commissioned to get more for their money out of having to bring the set out of storage and fully rig it again for the final (the semis were filmed weeks/a month or so ago) so they'll only go ahead with it if they can justify the significant extra unbudgeted cost shooting it in the future will bring.

Not to mention the whole editorial team having to be extended, several will have already moved onto other jobs today or in the coming days, such is the nature of TV.
Alesha is allegedly earning the least at £450,000, while Amanda is on £700,000.
Meanwhile David is taking home a £1.5million pay packet, with media mogul Simon said to be on a staggering £2.5million for his involvement, after creating the show and leading the panel.
‘Everyone is in agreement Simon deserves his wage as he’s the boss, but there seems no obvious explanation as to why David should be paid more than the women,’ a source told The Sun.

Doubt it. Pretty sure it’s always been the way on primetime formats that talent get paid based on what they are worth to the network in terms of how important they are to the programme(s), how replaceable they are, star power etc. Also often depends on whether the talent is just on that particular programme or if they have a wider deal with the network.
It’s why Sharon and Nicole got paid more than Louis on X Factor, and why Katy Perry gets paid far more than her male co-stars on American Idol. Outside of TV, it is why not every football player at Man United is paid the same amount.
Does seem odd that Amanda is on so much more than Alesha, I know she’s been there longer but still. I guess she’s got more going on outside of the show. I’m not surprised to see David get more than either though, he’s a bigger name, more star power, has a bigger career and the show needs him more than he needs the show.
Also pretty sure the pay will be handled by ITV, not the producers.
I'm a tv and broadcasting student. I am very interested in stage design on BGT. I've been sitting on 2 ideas for years and years. The 1st is a brand new set/stage design for the auditions. The 2nd is brand new location for the final, separate from the semi finals in the theatre.
If anyone can help with people to contact I'll be so grateful
