It has on occassion had a Sept/Oct run but not too often. They tried things like Red and Black in the autumn too. Score makes a good point about The Voice - I actually think it would hold up fine and I think opening up that 8.30pm slot in the winter for new shows would make it worth while.

I guess without the time difference to worry about they may be willing to air I'm a Celeb earlier in November at the weekends. I've said before I think they can basically clear four weekends of a premium format by just airing I'm a Celeb from 8pm/8.30pm - it never made sense in the dying days of The X Factor that I'm a Celeb would get pushed back to 9.45pm or so to accomodate it, unlike in the earlier years when it was TXF way ahead of the ratings pack.

Obviously exceptional circumstances at play here because of the gap between auditions and performance shows but I think it proved it just doesn't work weekly as all momentum as an 'event' is lost. So a useful exercise in that respect as BGT is often floated as a potential replacement for X Factor in the Autumn. I also think that Simon is missed more from BGT than X Factor to be honest.

I know that X Factor was always due to be rested this year, but hopefully it gets a longer break. The Little Mix show has demonstrated that straight singing talent shows are practically dead unless you put a twist on it like The Masked Singer.

Yep, I think X Factor needs a break until at least 2022. Possibly longer, enough time to build nostalgia. When it does return, I think they'd need some new faces on it too, mixed in with maybe one or two returns.

Agree this scheduling has proved that BGT wouldn't work as an X Factor replacement. If they moved the whole series to Sept/Oct it would probably work better but they'd still be dodging Strictly and there would only be one winner in that clash.

If there's any of ITV's H1 shows to try in the Autumn it would be The Voice. I'm not sure it could survive the move, but it airs at 8.30pm or so anyway, so if it could take its 4 million or so to the Autumn that would be useful for ITV. Big if though. It would unclog the first few months of the year a bit though and free up those lead-ins from The Masked Singer and Saturday Night Takeaway to go to new shows, those could be useful slots for trying new formats.

Well The Voice is on Saturdays In a couple of weeks so we’ll see what slot it’s in and how it does.

Since 2016 they had X Factor end when Micheal MacIntyre started so that I’m a Celebrity started around 9.10pm.

Gosh, production on the Xmas special suspended due to three positive tests and it might not happen at all now. Imagine if that test had happened just a few days earlier.

Good job there were no lapses in social distancing on Saturday then. Wink

Would be a shame if they couldn't go ahead at all but with the next two weeks now ruled out and Ant and Dec about to bubble for a month in North Wales there wouldn't be much opportunity to film until December- with the added complication and cost of having to strike the set again.

No doubt the backup plan will be initiated by ITV...a clips show with talking heads...

In theory would they be able to get anyone who came into contact with them tested and press on? Or do they have to shut down for 2 weeks.

If the latter then it could well mean it gets canned, Ant & Dec presumably will be gearing up for I'm a Celeb by then. Plus it's the acts who they'll have booked.

Safety first of course but would be a shame if it got cancelled.

Even if they could just test everyone, LH2 may well be booked for another production later this week and hence there's no time for them to delay recording and still have time to strike and re-set for the next show. And crew will be moving on to other shows, lighting equipment will be needed elsewhere, etc.

Apparently two of the judges have been forced into a 2 week isolation due to the outbreak (although this is from The Sun!)

Would ITV / Syco have to potentially compensate them for potential loss of earnings for the 2 weeks?

I doubt it in current circumstances although Amanda is arguably the only one with a day job at the moment anyway - and even that she could possibly do from home.

Expect they'll be tested, so would only have to isolate for 2 weeks if positive. Ant & Dec are being tested every 4 days, so you'd think ITV would be able to arrange other tests.
