ITV1 ?!

When they zoomed in on it, it was a pixellated mess (and you could see where the lines weren't aligned properly).

I've seen a few news reports recently where, when using footage of a programme from ITV, they list it as being on "ITV 1".

I wonder how the technical problems looked on TV3...

TV3 had the generic ITV feed used in England and Wales, complete with ITV continuity during the fault, which shows that Chiswick send a direct feed to Dublin.

So UTV's not the only reason that breakdown slide is unbranded! Though, if TV3 got the ITV announcements, why didn't UTV?

I do like how for a few acts tonight the intro VT has effectively been part of the act rather than the standard talent show intro piece.

Chap just pressed 3 of the 4 buzzers and was quickly caught by security soon after.

Better security than Eurovision.

The more that I watch the show, the more I'm enjoying Dec presenting solo. That isn't me saying that I want to see him go solo, but he does seem to having a lot of fun during this time. The introduction tonight felt very different for him, but went down very well.

They've never really had to be judged as individuals but he is doing a great job and proving himself one of the top presenters in his own right, and in a way a problem has become an opportunity both for him and for the show. Also helps that of their three main shows BGT is probably the most suited to a solo host.

It does make you wonder if this opens up the opportunity for both Ant and Dec to actually establish themselves individually alongside a continued partnership. When you think about the most successful TV duos of the last 40 years or so most also had individual success too - indeed Morecambe and Wise are probably the exception rather than the rules.

Hmmmm, Little and Large, Cannon and Ball and Mike and Bernie Winters being another three exceptions to that.

It depends on where they come from, the above were acts formed on the old style variety circuits who then came to television as a pair. Nowadays it's more a case of two people who can write and perform in their own right deciding to collaborate.

Also I think since Eric Morecambe died there's been more pressure on double acts not to be the Ernie. Though modern double acts don't do the straight/man funny set up so that's not so much an issue.

Ant and Dec are the exception because they're not really a comedy act as such. They didn't seem to have a plan or strategy for going it alone, but then don't really need one as they're mainly presenting to camera and as we've seen they can do that alone
