Apologies if there is already a thread, can't find one and I should imagine the only thread will be from last year. Best to start a new one every series, don't you think?

Anyway the real reason I started this thread:

Quote:
ITV has confirmed that Michael McIntyre and David Hasselhoff will join Britain's Got Talent as judges for the next series.

The pair will appear alongside the returning Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden when the series returns to ITV in 2011.

Elaine Bedell, ITV Director of Entertainment and Comedy, said: “Michael has established himself as one of the biggest names in comedy and entertainment in this country and, as someone who made his big breakthrough on the Royal Variety Performance, he knows exactly the pressures facing the acts on Britain’s Got Talent."

Of his new role, McIntyre said: “I'm a massive fan of Britain's Got Talent and am extremely excited to be a judge on the new series. I was so thrilled when Simon Cowell asked me that I immediately wanted to run in to Ant and Dec's arms to celebrate!”

Actor and television personality Hasselhoff previously served on the judging panel for NBC series America's Got Talent from 2006 to 2009.

“As an actor, singer and producer, David Hasselhoff has been immersed in show business for many years," said Bedell. "Alongside Michael, Amanda and of course Simon Cowell, he is a great addition to the judging panel for 2011.”

Ant and Dec will continue to present the hit show.

Cowell will return for the live shows as rumoured.

Michael McIntyre? This is going to be horrific.

He is the most popular standup on television, so he's a ratings success for them already. And besides, he isn't presenting, so won't be speaking every 10 seconds.

I can see the Hoff getting on my nerves but seeing a generally 'nice guy' comedian on the panel seems good.

Any bets on the Hoff getting 'tired & emotional' at some point?

Any bets on how long it'll take for the Hoff to speak into his watch and pretend to call for KITT ... ?

"KITT! Get me outta here pal!"

Michael McIntyre's presence on the show might attract new viewers, but he'll turn just as many regular viewers off (including myself).

I don't get the whole anti-Macintyre thing in general, and getting him on board sounds like a good idea to me. I reckon he'll something a bit different to the judging panel, although I was kinda hoping that he was replacing Amanda Holden.

I know there's a problem with an even number of judges in the audition rounds but I assume that's not the case with the live shows?

Simon will bump it up to four come the live shows.

I can't speak for everyone, but I really don't find him very funny. His act just seems like very ordinary, lazy, run of the mill observational comedy. It's all very clichéd "Don't you hate it when..." or "Have you noticed when..." comedy by numbers.

He's also got one of those faces I really want to punch. Although I suppose in that respect, he's a good replacement for Piers Morgan.

His comedy definitely is definitely clichéd, but I'm sure all of this is enhanced by his ridiculous parading around the stage and voice.
