Yay! Someone who has sense! Its a pretty sad excuse, but that wouldnt be said down at the pub, probably get a lamping.

What do you mean "sense"? I'm not sure why some people here are having such a big problem with other people's views because they don't aggree with them. I'm not sure where you two are coming from on this. James has a different view. He dislikes the film effect, He switched off. He complained. So what? It's his viewpoint, he's entitled to it. It's not "sad", he's not "wrong" (neither are the people who are happy with the film effect), so WHY come down on him and treat him as if he's a sad case? If you're so annoyed at someone else's views, I think you're the sad cases.

But I can see this thread quickly decending into a OT argument, just like every other thread on this forum, because someone dissagrees to strongly with someone elses view, rather than letting them get on with it.

Well it'd be a start if someone actually commented on the content of the show or the ITV1 pres. For some reason the first 2 pages were an argument about what ITV should be called in Scotland so it's already been OT for days!

[quote="big_fat"]If we can ridicule someone who doesn't like the production standards on a show, let's ridicule those who do nothing but watch, record & take screenshots from Sky News all day, something plenty of people will think of as odd. I won't- they are happy doing it, it's not affecting me personally and they're not hurting anyone.

Well you cant be that right, as you has had to edit your thread 3 times. And taking screenshots of Sky News, well this is a Presentation Forum or isnt it now?

Yes, and the film effect is a presentation topic- one Me, James and probabally some others (who will probabally now stay out of this for fear of being jumped upon) feel this way, you don't. It's part of discussion and being different and doesn't make anyone a sad case.

So its not SAD to turn of a programme, just because of a Film Effect and complain? Whats the point of complaining anyway, as it will be over by 10.30. Its SAD because normal people dont do that, only brainless saddos, sitting in front of TV everyday picking at every minimal detail because you have nothing better to do. So will you switch of the BBC, because it ripps you off over a 100 quid a year, no, so why be so stupid about this.

'Normal' people do not sit and take great notice of TV presentation, yet this forum exists, go figure....

Although I've not switched the show off, and turned over to another channel to watch something else, I still believe that
especially for awards shows (not just The Brits, MTV VMA's, etc.) adding a "filmic" effect is pointless, and looks crap.

And that's just a polite view.

Personally, I have to say as much as I look every time I read on this forum that it's being used, I really can't see any difference between this "filmic effect" and any other output! I've never been able to see why everyone seems to hate it so much. Why it would make someone switch off I don't know, but that's their opinion. What's so bad about it?

I agree, when I watched The Vicar of Dibley at Christmas, I noticed a slight flickering in the titles (confirmed later by someone as being to do with the 'filmic effect'), but nothing more. From the way some forumers were going on here, they found it impossible to watch it, so can anybody explain why it disturbs some people so much, while others such as myself are oblivious to its presence?

It doesn't put me off viewing the programme it just gets me agitiated. I find that using it spoils the immediacy of the programme and subtracts from the overall production..
