A short piece of music & graphics into and out of the adverts wouldn't have gone a miss. It might have helped make things look more professional and also have given Peter Kay an indication as to when the ad break had finished.

EDIT: Straying off-topic there's footage from within Earls Court c/o Meatloaf which highlights just how big the venue is...

What if X factor goes to somewhere like this? Shocked

I don't think that will ever happen but if it did there is no way Simon would let it get into the mess it was in last night. X Factor is tweaked to perfection and is a very slick production, so if they did move to somewhere like this it would probably be the only show on British TV that would be able to pull it off, awards shows included. I don't get the fascination with massive audiences at awards shows, I think there is only so big an audience can get before it doesn't come across well on TV (of course unless you're Simon Cowell who can pretty much manipulate anything in or out of favour).

It can seat up to 19,000 people which sometimes makes it bigger than MEN Arena (biggest arena in the UK) which seats 15,000 (but can go up to 23,000).

It was a pure car crash tv

I actually turned it off as it was making me cringe

I won't repeat everyones else's comments, they're all valid

As for the venue, The Grammy's managed to pull off a professional pre-show, main show and after show in the Staples Centre (which is enormous). It made ours look like a school pantomime

Special attention must be paid the appalling sound and the appaling picture (particularly unforgiveable when we're talking about a music awards show)

Yes but the Grammys are held in an atmosphere of respect. The Brits is just a glorified evening in the boozer.

I think its time to move out of Earl's Court
They'll probably have to in a couple of years: it's probably being demolished in a couple of years.

It will move to the O2 arena. Can't really see it going anywhere else.

It'd be a shame to see it go, especially for something as unimaginative as 'flats'.

Earl's Court is a huge and historic venue but looks rather shabby IMO. I get the impression the space is quite flexible - doesn't the balcony seating arrangement drop down to become a flat upper exhibition space and fold back entirely for taller stuff downstairs...? I don't know what its like to rig and strike but I get the impression that access to the halls is better at the NEC and Excel. I suppose one of the problems with it is the lack of parking and the fact that it's within the congestion zone. I know it's got the tube ...

I've rigged and struck exhibitions at EC1. Nightmarish for that type of thing because you get a very narrow window of time to unload from your trucks - and if you lose your place in the queue - tough.

Its great for visitors though as its in the centre with great tube links.

But how they allowed Lady gaga to keep saying Bitch, during her act, is something else!

This isn't America. What is wrong with saying bitch?

You can say bitch in America, even in daytime.

Oddly Frank Skinner was reprimanded for saying that word on radio last year, plus the Loose Women are very careful not to say that word either (they often say "female dog" as a humorous euphemism).

I don't think Peter Kay did too badly, I don't think the Brits will ever top Sam Fox & Mick Fleetwood though http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z77/demaine_d/Emoticon/tumbleweed.gif

I doubt he was on Radio 2, the amount of saying on that station would put some of the more younger ons to shame Shocked
