And on the subject, might I suggest you nip down to your nearest library and get out 'Dished! The Rise and Fall of British Satellite Broadcasting' as it's an extremly good read and gives loads of detail about the supposed 'merger'. At the same time, I suggest you also look for 'Sky High' which gives a history of Sky right from the start as Sky Europe, through the merger and upto just before Digital came in. Both very good books. If you want personal copies, you should be able to find 'Sky High' in any good bookshop, but 'Dished!' is quite a bit harder. I had to get it shipped from a second hand bookshop in Australia to get hold of it. If you do get them, then enjoy!
Well BSB certainly had the higher-quality programming, but Sky won through because of its head-start, and the technological problems and bad management at BSB.
Yes, I would also have preferred to have seen BSB succeed and Sky to fail. But it was not to be. Since when has the smaller company ever triumphed over the larger one?
Smart small companies see that hard fact coming a mile away, and get out quick. Either way, the bankers win, and the end-user suffers.

That sounds similar. BSB = ITV Digital ??? Well the both live in Marco Polo house.
