Glad I spotted this thread, otherwise I would have missed tonight's episode.

Indeed, much better on a Sunday (although I would prefer it to be on at 9.00pm or later like it was a few years ago to avoid the bleeps).

Apparently John Fortune is sixty-eight, assuming wikipedia is accurate, in November John Bird will be seventy-one. I hadn't realised their age, as they still seem younger than some.

A sky news weather spoof...

I love the Francis Wilson sketches. Rory's probably realised their popularity on YouTube and decided to do more.

I've been itching for polictical satire - there hasn't been hardly any since Mr G Brown took over office.

Is it true that the Bird & Fortune monologues are live?

On a related note last night there was a South Bank Show special about John Bird & John Fortune. It showed the pair of them writing up a 'George Parr' interview as well as performing it, a special one for the South Bank Show I believe.

Well, they were contemporaries of the "Beyond the Fringe" crowd, and both the surviving members of BTF, Jonathan Miller and Alan Bennett, are 73 this year. So that figures. Of course the other major figure still around from the "satire boom" is David Frost, who's only a few weeks older than John Fortune.
