Before I offer views on Sky coverage. N24's breaking news aston looks CRAP!

Seeing both BBC & Sky - both getting same guests. SKY NEWS FIRST to bring the statement on the phone from Jenny Percival.

As I raised he a few weeks ago about the existence of a CURRENT picture of the killers - they're all talking about it on TV - YET . . . everyone asked about it says they HAVEN'T seen it!

BTW - (more suited to the general chat, but I'll do it in the same post). Given that they should be & will be released, the killers should be prefably forced to JOIN THE ARMY for a decade or so - thus keeping them unde strict control - with LITTLE extra funding from the govt.
OR, if not that then be tested for drugs & alcohol every week or so @ random - to ensure they don't have all the luxuries & freedoms of the rest of us. Similarly, they should be TAGGED - with a curfew.

I'm very glad about this story.

You can sum up my thoughts about this story, by the fact that I felt sick when I saw the title.
Can we leave the debates about graphics to other stories?

Could you please stop using BREAKING NEWS in every single topic you post. By the time I had read this topic it was hardly 'breaking'. Also I think your views are a little naive.

I try to differentiate topics about general matters - such as 'what do people think about BBC news astons?' and items that are more topical & salient

'Crap' swearing! It's even in the Simpsons!

Monitoring local news in NW - Granda Tonight asking for e-mail comments on Bulger. Their e-mail address is 'Rob&Lucy@granadamedia.com' - referring to them as 'rob & lucy' it's just a bit tacky/not correct for a news programme.

Image Sky: send us your views on the bombing of x to 'bob&anna @ sky.com'

Well, North West Tonight made a big cockup! Gordon didn't speak and they played the full opening titles! The headline thundeclaps were out of line and then Gordon kept looking at the camera, to the desk and to the side about 3 times, before saying a shifty 'Good Evening'!

Oh for gods skae bail, I know you are desperate to boost your post number, but complaining about the word crap instead of posting about worthwhile stuff is just silly.

Well, this topic has strayed somewhat, anyway here are my views on the coverage...

They both broke it at exactly the same time, this is simply because of the fact that they will both have got the annoucement at about 1.45pm but an embargo will have been placed on until two, hence the fact that both channels had astons prepared and these were 'unleashed' at exactly 2pm.

Both channels seemed to have pretty much similar coverage, the only noticable difference was that Sky would normally (3 exceptions) get guests before News24, and that aston was annoying ! For example the lawyers of both sides arrived on Sky about 20 mins before News24, but in the mean time they were still covering the story.
News24 seemed to find a novelty in interviewing the same people twice... rather odd but it fills the time I suppose.

Also, the official statement got to Sky about 5 or 10 mins before the BBC.
But on the whole relatively good coverage from both sides.

I also saw NWT and frankly I found it quite embarrasing!
It is quite shocking that they were not better prepared for such a huge event, eventually I turned over and watched The Simpsons.
