Isonstine ill put in a good word for you at Safeway Coventry! And Doris from checkout 19 has been fired for pinching! Which Safeway did you apply to? Whitly or Coundon?

The one in Whitley. And I am shocked about Doris - I thought we could rely on her.

I certainly think that some forumers have a problem recognising the tongue-in-cheek style of some people's posts. I'm sure Ison wishes Katherine the best of luck, but I'm not sure such news warrants BREAKING NEWS on the list of topics. Maybe in MetroPoo, but I don't think here.

Exactly - is it too much for some people to display a little courtesy just to say 'well done' or 'congratulations' and save the supermarket/bingo hall stuff for a chat room or PM?
This is a forum that discusses real-life events in broadcasting, Phil. I thought that my post satisfied both those criteria. Seems to differentiate between those on here who are all-talk and those who actually turn off their computers, remove their proverbials from the computer chair and do something positive with their presentation and general media interest.
Oh, and my not signing up to the new Lounge was why I posted it in here as at the least, my news pertained to some sort of broadcasting media. I am not interested in joining the Lounge because I want to use the time I would have spent in there furthering my broadcasting/media knowledge now I have this opportunity which I aim to get the maximum out of.
I live happy in the knowledge that I'm doing something concrete with my interest, and am not all talk, all Forum and no positive action. Hope I can make myself a good example to others in here by doing so...

It shows how sad the individuals are that can only post related tv forum topics and not have a sense of gladness in them for Katherine's cheer. Isontine's response was pretty uncaring too.

Well done, Katherine, I knew you'd always find that foot in the door, and this is it. I think you'll do a fine job, and move on to greater things.
As for this thread, I think a phrase I've used to great effect before works well here: You don't have to blow out my candle to make yours burn brighter.

I'm sorry but this just doesn't wash with me Katherine. I do genuinely wish you all the luck in the world, but you have demonstrated in your first line of this post that it is nothing but attention seeking. It is a little big-headed of you to say about people removing "their proverbials" from their computer chair when, as we all know, most of us do actually have a life away from here and choose not to broadcast it to everyone else. I know I'm probably coming across as ignorant here, but that's not my intention, I just wish you'd realise that every bit of your life doesn't warrant a BREAKING NEWS thread on here. So much for having a life away from here...

OK - I've established you don't want to go down the good-mannered polite route and say congratulations and well done etc.. every bit of my life has NOT been broadcasted here. You're simply using that as a silly means to embellish the facts of the matter, which is I don't do that which you accuse me of. There is no 184-page long 'Katherine's daily 'what I did today' diary' thread is there? Was that an attempt to 'sex up' or 'over-egg' your post?
Remember - this board is read by plenty of people in local and national media. The point of my posting it here apart from sharing it with people on here is to say to those already in media, that in the future, they could be interested in employing someone like me. You've got to tell these people you're here. If you've got it, in this case flaunt it!!
PS - Nick Owen's been a true gentleman and congratulated me - "Hi Katherine...fantastic news..congrats!" - what a pity you cannot follow his exemplary lead...
