It brings us back to whole issue of TV presentation . . . GRABBING ATTENTION!
These grab my attention... the fact that they fill up 1 third of the screen though is a little annoying.
I can read, please stop using BREAKING NEWS in everything, in 20 mins time it will not be BREAKING NEWS what will you do then?

The reason CNN (and all the other America news networks) use BREAKING NEWS so much are because they are desperate for ratings. Especially CNN. They get their highest ratings (and they are usually astronomically high) when there are big BREAKING NEWS events. At least, that's what I've been able to deduce.
