Is it me or do the Breakfast TV local news sections studios look very similar?
BBC Midlands Today Breakfast edition has a very simillar studio to that of Central News GMTV edition. The big screen in each of the newsrooms are exactly the same if you look. There is no variety in TV these days.

Plenty of variety in the North.
With thunderclapping CALENDAR and stringed LOOK NORTH LEEDS, it's great!
Oh, Granada couldn't be different from North West Today (which I prefer). Granada have a blank purple screen behing them (or they did, I haven't watched it for years!) North West Today have a nice view of Oxford Road in Manchester. I actually think they could do better - a nice shot of Liverpool from the Mersey River would be nice!

Yes, why don't the regions vary the 'window on the world' with scenic locations from around the regions! In BBC North Leeds you could have Leeds, York, Sheffield, the Pennines. In BBC North Manchester you could have a wonderful shot of Liverpool from Birkenhead (on the other side of the Mersey)!
Granada News used to have a 'window' on the Albert Dock in Liverpool - that's where there newsroom is/used to be - isn't it? My granny (who lives in West Kirby, Wirral) says Granada
(and yes, this is the bit I have changed!!!)
covers much more news from that part of the world, ie. Liverpool area, than North West Tonight which is far more Manchester based.

Was your granny on Granada, or did you mean to say your granny says Granada...
It would be a bit odd for Granada to be talking about your granny!
Yes thats right, the Newsroom is in the Albert Dock area. I'm doing my work experiece at the Albert Dock in October!
I prefer North West Today to Granada. I don't like the way the presenters stand up. I also like having just one presenter, instead of two like on Granada and many others of the BBC Regions:
Reporting Scotland - Used to be one, now 2
Look North - 2
Look North - 2
North West Tonight - 1
Newsline - 2
Wales Today - 1
Midlands Today - 2
East Midlands Today - 2
South Today - 2
Points Wes - 2
Spotlight - 2
Spotlight Channel Islands - 1
South Today Oxford - 1
Look East - 2
Close Up - 1
Newsroom South East - 2

Newsroom South East only has one presenter now, and so will South East Today when it starts.
I think with regional news, they keep the same presenter as much as possible. For example, Gordon Burns has done North West Tonight for months without a real break. Until last night when Tony Morris did it.

Not always Mike Embley, no, theres a few regular ones that do it. Their names have all gone out of my head at the moment though

Perhaps the BBC think that we are all stupid enought to think that the 'window on the world' is actually a 'real' window. Changing the location would shatter that illusion.

It's normally either Mike Embley, Tim Donovan or Gillian Joseph. Usually Tim or Gillian does Mon-Tue and Mike does Wed-Fri, but Gillian was on yesterday and Tim was on tonight.
