Im surprised this is Carlton's doing.
I havent seen them yet but this sounds like a step in the right direction for ITV.

It makes little difference really. The regional name gets used on Central and Westcountry only 4 times a week (news programmes have standard ITV1 network idents, the announcer may or may not ackowledge a local name but more often than not doesn't). Each time they are used, they just herald the latest London-comissioned low budget 'it's only regional so it doesn't matter and we're only making it because we have to' production.

With the way ITV is it makes no real difference whether it's ITV1 for Central England (and I'm waiting for confirmation of my belief that Westcountry had 'ITV1 for the West Country') or ITV1 Carlton. This is hardly equivalent to restoring the stations, it just means a different ident is played off the server by LNN.

Well by looking at them, I'd say a lot of thought went into them. They don't look any less cheap than the celeb idents.

So what happens in them? Are they already there, and the camera pans around them? Or do they appear, or drop into the different places.

What music is used to accompany them? Is it a usual celebs ident music, ala UTV, or have they their own?

AFAI can remember there is no music, just the sound of the setting i.e. the sound of the river in the one I saw, or the sound of the sea in whatadays, I assume.

I think the camera slowly pans out to reveal the cubes standing there, but I'm not sure.

Were the cubes real, computer generated, or did they look real, and you couldn't tell.

Someone said it's just the sound from the location.

lol, that's the third question you've asked which has already been answered. Very Happy

I'd say they were made of the same material as the celeb ident set.

The cubes where actually real, just placed all around the scene with the sun shining off them... looked good.

On Yorkshire we just had an ITV1 Yorkshire branded celebrity ident, we also got that funny junction at 3pm.
Although going on Granada regions' track record for regional idents, it's not really that surprising.
You mean a track record that includes Yorkshire and Tyne Tees having regional idents throughout the hearts period?!

That'll be from the period when Tyne Tees had two completely different logos then...
