Interesting junction though, they cut out of a commercial midway, displayed 25 seconds of LNN countdown clock, ran 3 promos, a PIF (can't remember the last time I saw one on ITV outside of night time), yet another promo, and finally the link into the news.

It was a bizarre junction, but PIFs are regularly played at this time of day, particularly in the junction before CITV.

If these were new BBC One idents, there'd be a 200 page thread by now! Very Happy

You missed nothing, it was just a Roy and Haley ident which went out at 2.30pm, just standard ITV1, no Granada.

I think its only available in the Carlton areas... which is a shame.

Probably because we'd have heard something prior to their appearance. It's very hard to comment on something when only two people have seen it and there's no screengrabs!

Anyhoo, seems odd if it's just a Carlton affair. I thought all pres was created in one place these days.

Cheers, Asa

Although going on Granada regions' track record for regional idents, it's not really that surprising.

Yea, you never know, me and whataday could be in a sick collusion to infiltrate the reputable TVF with corrupt information to damage the authority of the information here for our own ends...

World domination is NEXT ... ha ha, ha ha ha, ha ha haaaaaaaaa...

So have they dropped the "Carlton" from the idents then? (In favour of Central and Westcountry?) In preperation for the demise of the company in February (sorry, merger with Granada).

A merger in which Granada gets, within ITV, to keep the name for its region (ITV1 Granada) and productions (Granada Production) while the Carlton name will it looks effectively disappear...

Possibly.

The difference there is that Granada Television continues to hold the franchise for the north west and so it is still acceptable to have an ident with 'Granada' on it. But the Midlands and South West franchises still (technically at least) belong to Central Independent Television and Westcountry Television, making it harder to argue for the continuation of having Carlton on their idents if Carlton was no longer their parent company.

The only region which could still viably be called Carlton is the London Weekday franchise, it wouldn't surprise me if Carlton start introducing regional idents there instead.

Im surprised this is Carlton's doing.
I havent seen them yet but this sounds like a step in the right direction for ITV.

Why? Carlton regions (inc HTV) have always been good with things like this.
